leopold connecting and disconnecting from computer
« on: Sun, 04 December 2011, 11:55:29 »
well, this just started today.

for some reason it just keeps doing it over and over. and when it is connected only certain keys will work.

only other keyboard that did this was my unicomp space saver but eventually that stopped.

and keyboard is plugged into the back ports of my pc, not a hub

works fine on my mac, it seems to be my windows pc is the problem.

going to try other keyboards and see if it will repeat the problem

edit 1 - poker seems to be working fine.

Mine did that once, turned out the usb on the keyboard end was not inserted 100% even though it appeared to be. I also realized that I needed to use the cable that came with the keyboard at that point as it has a slimmer plug that is easier to fit.

Could be a driver problem, a problem with the USB port, or a problem with the keyboard cable. If you are sure it is inserted correctly, it is probably driver related. I had that problem on a computer, but I know it was the computer's fault because the same devices worked fine on a different computer.

One of the reasons I don't bother with removable keyboard cables.

I am not entirely a big fan of removable cable as well... despite I now owning a leopold.. crossing my fingers.

OP, how old is your keyboard?

If it works fine on Mac, I will take that as a good news. It could be the problem of the PC itself instead of the keyboard.

Had the same issue with my Leopold after futzing with it a bit this weekend.  LEDs would blink on cold boot but the keyboard was unresponsive even bringing up cmos settings.  The mini-USB side of the cord wasn't completely plugged in correctly.  The "notch" on the Leopold for the cord seems pretty snug, so once you get it plugged in correctly it shouldn't come out easily at least.

Mini usb to usb cables are such a common cable these days you should have no trouble trying another one. This is why detachable cables poon. Replacing a non-detachable is a pain in the ass. :clap2:

a connection problem with the cable, a good connector in the computer world: scsi, dvi. all others you have to look out. when are we going to have a WIRELESS MECHANICAL KEYBOARD?
but even fixed conection can have this problem:
