1) So... I have a BlackWidow. I really like it, except the impact on bottoming out actually hurts my fingers when I'm typing at full speed. Not bottoming out is not going to happen, as at full speed i bottom out even clears(they do help at my normal rhythm, I don't bottom them out then). Are PCB mounted blues better in that respect?

2) I can get the g80-3000 lsceu(blue PCB mounted cherries) in white (PBT key caps) for around what I paid for my white g80 with clears (90 usd shipped from within my country) or in black (POM key caps) for about 140 usd shipped from keyboardco. Is POM better by a margin that would justify paying 50 usd more?

3) G80 build quality (other than key caps) is not an issue, as I am fairly satisfied with my g80-lqceu. Vibrations do propagate from the right hand side to the left hand side(curious, since it doesn't work the other way around) while typing, but that's nitpicking as far as I am concerned.

4) Bonus: how can I get hairs and other debris easily out of plate mounted switches? That's another reason for which I am interested in PCB mounted switches, servicing the blackwidow has been a pain in the ass: after an unfortunate bug spraying session, even after cleaning with distilled water, isopropylic alcohol and contact cleaner, I still have around 6 non-clicky switches in the alpha section.

Thanks.

Go with the white PBT. It is much better than their POM keys.

What contact cleaner did you use?

Some generic Czech thing, the label says it's a contact cleaner + dry lube. "Dissolves oxides, doesn't attack metal and synthetic materials". I'll post some pictures for the wiki when I find the can.

It actually worked on the A key, which was still very sticky after distilled water + alcohol. The first effect was numbing down the click a bit but, weirdly or not, making the tactile feedback stronger. It wasn't as crisp, but it kicked back with more power, if that makes sense. After some usage (not much, since i got the g80 with clears immediately after that), it went back to almost normal operation(kinda sounds a bit muffled, but works OK).

Does it make any sense to retry the water + alcohol + contact cleaner trick while holding the plate upside down? (I tried it in the normal position the first time around)

Some guy at ocn says he likes PBT better than both ABS and POM. Since I've been using my white g80 for the last two days, I agree with the PBT>ABS thing (but maybe it's just the different texture @ g80 vs blackwidow), but I still have no idea of how POM caps feel.
