Nice! I don't know why it took this long for someone to make a white backlit mechanical keyboard with a standard font (as opposed to what Deck uses).

Ugh. I'd just decided on the blue backlit DK90008S for my new home keyboard to replace the Filco I took to my office.
I might have to fire off an email to MechKeyboards.com to find out how long I'd be waiting if I wanted a white one.

Then all I have to do is figure out whether I can wait that long.
Why is deciding always the hardest part? I can research keyboards and theoretically spend money all day long.
:/
Current collection:
Filco Majestouch 104-Key, w/ MX Browns

I'd love one where the LEDs were connected to the switches, so as you pressed the keys they lit up :D

So I know this is a pretty old thread and I didn't want to start a new-Yet-another-Ducky-Shine-thread.
First off like so many others, I just got into mechanical keybaords. It started with my friend who got a Razer BWU. I was curious as I never heard of mechanical keyboards before, (which is weird being such the nerd I am)
So I went to research up on it and found OCN's mechanical keyboard guide by Manyak. Most helpful guide ever. I started to research and lurk GH learning all I can about this new world of keyboards until I was tempted to actually get one and try it out myself.
From there starts my first problem, theres no backlight!! Now I know you'll ask me to touch type and all that but I really like the aesthetic look of backlit keyboards as I spends a lot of time on my computer at night(in the dark, its probably not good for me)
I also couldn't go without a numpad because when I play MMOs I have a habit of binding skills to the numpad and using the keyboard to turn/walk.
So after searching a looong time and reading tons of threads of people with the same problem. I found Ducky Shine! Its perfect as it solves all my problems!!
Like many people who got their first mech keyboard, I went with brown switches to be safe. I was actually also tempted to get the red switches, but decided against it because I would like to start with something more tactile and not so noisy(blues)

So here I am, after weeks of research, I ordered a Ducky Shine from Tigerimports and it arrived today. Very fast shipping btw, kudos to them for that.

Brown Switches

Ducky Shining anybody? =D

As you can see, the Caps Lock is not of different colour. Was a little disappointed with this.

I was in dilemma at first for which colour to get. The red really appealed to me but then they were out of stock on tank guys and not sold on tiger imports. I wanted to go with the green to get that matrix look but was afraid it would be too harsh on the eyes (besides, green isn't really my fav colour. I don't like the blue cause It reminds me of Razer BWU and I don't like that board. When White came out last week on Tigerimports, I instantly jumped on it! Later, I might mod the LEDs/Keycaps like this guy --> geekhack.org/showthread.php?19869-where-my-ducky-shine-at&p=379792&viewfull=1#post379792
But right now, The red keycaps for WASD that comes with it looks sickk with white LEDs.

I would also like some advice on get new keycaps in the future. I was thinking of the Filco Ninja white keycaps and dyeing the LEDs red or something. What do you guys think? =D

PS. This entire post was typed on the new board. It feels AMAZING!!! Better than any keyboard I've typed on before!! I reckon I'll never go back to my laptop's keyboard ever again.

thank youu! I'm loving every second with my keyboard. Typing on it just gives me orgasm with every keystroke its unbelievable!

I see you have the filco ninjas, do you think the keycaps will fit in my ducky? If it does I might order a set. Black board with white ninja keycaps sounds very appealing to me!!

I just got my white LED Ducky Shine with blue switches, and I absolutely love it!  I had purchased a Unicomp for my Dad, so I knew I had to get me a mechanical keyboard, but backlighting was a must.  I was upset when they ran out of the blue LED version and got green LED's instead.  When the white LED's showed up, I ordered that one and have no complaints except that the Caps, Scroll, and Num Lock keys are not a different color.  However, I was thinking since it's a white LED, I should be able to mod a color film over it and color the LED light.  I was going to put a red film over the Esc key LED, green film over the Caps, Scroll, and Num Locks, and maybe a blue film over the Enter keys.  I just have to see how I can make that happen without causing the film to interfere with the key press in any way.  BTW, I plan to get a second keyboard from Tigerimports for work.

I wish they make a white white led shine, like cross the year of the rabbit with the shine... nice and understated.

They'll fit, because they're just standard Cherry MX keycaps like on everything else, but they'll look pretty daft...
The backlighting won't shine through the keys, just out around the bottom of them.
That, and I don't think you can buy Filco Ninja keycaps by themselves (at least I've certainly not heard of it), unless you can get them off a fellow GeekHacker secondhand.

There is no white back-lit keycaps out there(except KBT Race aftermart keycaps) for now.

it is because the way bl keycaps are made. BL keycaps are normally blank/translucent PC/ABS keycaps painted/coated in whole black, then lasered off the coating for legends/fonts.

White back-lit keycaps harder to prevent back-lit bleeding.

A thinner white ABS will do. I got some(visit the review for "Keycool87") white abs keycaps from the keyboard and I swapped it onto my Razer BWU. It went out much better(looks) and feel(typing feel) than the original keycaps.
