Leopold or Noppoo Choc Pro for first board?
« on: Fri, 09 December 2011, 02:06:12 »
Hi, so I'm still trying to decide between these 2 boards as a christmas gift for myself, hoping someone has some input. As I live in California, ordering from qtan or ek would be just about the same price wise. I've also considered the quickfire but it feels too flashy for my taste at the moment, hoping for something more simple and since I'm looking for MX Browns, the Rosewill RK-9000 is also around this price point if not higher

I'd say the leopold, especially if your looking for something more "simple".

I have to say that my No-Poo was a lot of fun but if you're looking for a quality board for the long haul go a Leopold.

I agree as well. I like the Noppoo Mini but I wouldn't buy the full size board when there are better choices for less.
If you live in AZ you can try my keyboards. I usually keep plenty of different ALPS and MX and buckling springs.

Oopsies...I thought we were talking about the mini.

In that case, maybe take ripster's suggestion and get a Rosewill. The last Leopold I used has the mushy stabilize problem.

I only own one mechanical keyboard, a Leopold TKL Brown, so it's the only one I talk about in terms of actually owning one. So far it has been amazing, and from what I have read on this forum they are very reliable. So I feel if you choose to buy a Leopold you would not be disappointed.

With that being said I would agree with the people suggesting the Rosewill. It is very well priced and has said to be just as well made as the Leopolds and Filcos. The only draw back with this keyboard though is that it isn't available in a tenkeyless format. When I was choosing a keyboard this was very important to me, which eliminated the Rosewill for me. The Rosewill also has a gross logo right smack on top which is a huge turn off for some.

But if you are cool with having a full sized layout, then what's wrong with a keyboard from WASD? I've heard the quality is top notch, and you get to customize it however you want.

Thanks for all the info, the reason why I'm not getting a WASD is because its $140 for me here in California which is more than the other boards even the Noppoo. Also if I get into keyboards (which I will find out after my first board) my 2nd board will for sure be a TKL w/ custom keys so that might be a WASD since they'll have that layout in a year. Right now TKL or Full doesn't matter since I've become quite accustomed to a laptop layout.

Guess for now I'll debate between a Rosewill and Leopold. Hopefully the RK-9000 browns drop in price to the same as the reds or blues, it'd be a very good price since I got in on the $20 for $40 for newegg and I have a 1-year membership to shoprunner.

I am also eagerly awaiting the release of the WASD TKL. But if you choose between the Rosewill and the Leopold then there is really no wrong choice. Enjoy your first keyboard.

But you do get the rainbows and happy feeling of supporting a guy in California, running a unique and awesome business.  ...And a customized board.  Got to be some value in that.
