Yep, now the "government" can arbitrarily declare any American citizen a national security threat and haul him/her off to never be seen or heard from again.

This isn't a surprise to me as I have been following this type of world tyranny for a few years now.

There is a common poison that has usurped all Western nations. These criminals raped Russia and Eastern Europe creating the USSR. Now the very same Bolshevics and Oligarchs have forced the European Union and the USSA on the rest of us.

Take your fake fiat currency out of the bank and buy silver and gold. Bury it if you have to. Stock up on food, tools, seeds, and ammo.

I live in California. Guns are a bad word here, ammo just as bad. Many people here won't say out loud they own a gun...it gets others 'excited' and 'concerned'. Somehow the mentality seems to be, if you own a gun, it's bad for the police, or you're one of 'those people', or why do you have a gun? That's so dangerous.

What I am reading is that this is merely an extension of the military's authority to detain enemy combatants without trial. We can argue about whether that authority is a good or a bad thing, but it's not new, it's not arbitrary, it's not without recourse for the detained, and it doesn't constitute martial law.

What you are reading is merely an affront to the US constitution, thus an illegal act of treason.

This act repeals the Posse Comitatus Act (“the power of the county").

This is martial law. It protects no one from "terrorists" or "enemy insurgents". More people die from bee stings than terrorism. I suppose we should detain all bees in detention centers.

The real threat is now the "government" and the power to kidnap and kill American citizens with no reason or accountability through the use of the Military, not the police. BTW, the police have been steadily militarized over the years just in case no one has noticed. You see these goons walking around in black combat uniforms. How come it's ok for our police to wear black uniforms but it was bad when the Nazis did it?

Right. Nothings changed, right or wrong. It's not the New World Order or the beginning of the end (that's already started, lol).

But it's always a good idea to have a clean water source and some non-perishable foods just in case (a whopper earthquake could really ruin a romantic weekend with the little woman if you need to fight your way through the throngs for some canned yams).

My emergency preparedness is limited to how much is in my stomach at any given time. Not wise if you consider how easily serious food disruption could be in the bay area for a week if some millennium earthquake blew out roads and power.

Those of us in Ontario and north eastern US probably are a little more prepared after that 3 day black out we had a few years ago...at least I hope so. I couldn't even make a freakin' coffee!

Now I have a gas stove, percolator, & several gallons of water ready to go any time.

And yes those Nazi uniforms were definitely pretty bad ass.

Yea, I would say most people here just are not prepared for too much. No hurricanes, ice storms, tornados, floods, power outages, to keep us on our toes. Temps 40-90, rain 10"-30", not an extreme place.

Whenever anyone says they still support him, I can't help but initially think they are being sarcastic. It's much like Bush supporters but then Bush supporters knew what they were getting when they voted for him and they got it (why I voted for Gore). When it comes to Obama, he was elected by and these people voted for him for promising to close Guantanamo, stop wire tapping, and make government more transparent. At least when Bush supporters continued to support and vote for him, they weren't voting for a different guy, same guy.

Obama 2012 is not the same as Obama 2008 and arguing that most of the Republicans aren't any better is no argument for Obama.
