I hate you all
« on: Tue, 20 December 2011, 05:06:06 »
So last night I was thinking of selling my filco to get myself a new graphics card because my old one has just fried. However after posting the thread in the classifieds section, I got out my 'trusty g15' and tried to type on it. My fingers almost committed suicide. It actually made me feel ill.

Thanks to you guys I now hate rubber domes, and I have to use mechanical keyboards.

I hate you all, especially you ripster.

As a side note: Browns FTW!

Yea, I had to bring one of my HHKBs to work because I couldn't stand using the crappy keyboard there.

Well I love everybody, even Noodles256.

'cuz hatin' is bad.

Here is a question for the #1 keybo expert:  My wife said we have too many keyboards.  Is that true?

Srsly?  Clears FTW!  You have no idea how much I prefer my Filco with lubed clears to anything else I've ever typed on.  I'm currently typing this on a Leopold with clears and Wyse caps which is fast becoming my #2 favorite board, although the Cherry stabilizers are a negative for me as is the tenkeyless layout (however it's helping with my current desk layout.)

I'm starting to think I might want a board with blacks for variety though.  My old school nature now wants to find one of those elusive Wyse PS/2 boards.

I will grant you that blues are nice, but they're certainly not subtle, and the increased wobbliness of the keys annoys me.

If it'll make you feel any better, I have the perfect fried-vid card solution; remove the plastic cover and bake it in your oven at 385 degrees for 8 minutes.  I did it for my 8800 that died recently and it worked, perfectly.  Go check it out on youtube if you don't believe me "bake video card".  the heat is enough to melt the solder slightly and re-establish the connections.

Then come back here typing on your cherries and plead forgiveness....we'll think about it.

I confirm that, a friend could revive his graphic card that way too, but only a few times though (it came to a certain point where the card could not revive anymore).

I had a Dell XPS laptop that kept frying its video card, I did that at least twice.  Then I lugged that big heavy thing all the way to Japan and it died the second day of a 2 week trip.

In retrospect, I should have pulled the hard drive and trashed the rest on the spot, but I didn't think of it at the time and kept lugging the POS around with me.
