Tried my first Rosewill Cherry MX Brown Keyboard = Too small!

Hi there,

I have been trying out my first mechanical keyboard. CherryMx Brown Rosewill one. I keep feeling like the keys are a little small for me. These are filco rebrands, I believe. I thought they were standard size keys but they just feel small. Maybe it's the space bar. The keyboard I used before was a regular Dell RT7D50. I thought the keys on the Dell one would be bigger but when I put them side by side, the keys mostly are the same except for the bottom ones on the Dell are really big. I keep making lot of mistakes on the Rosewill one. Maybe I'm just too used to the Dell one.

What are some bigger mechanical options out there? As for the cherry browns, I think I should try black next. I hear they are more quieter. What about DAS keyboards? Any other recommendations? I do a fair amount of typing and FPS games. I think I'm more of a heavy typer so I can't stop bottoming out the browns, blacks might be better for me or RED's?

Heavy typer go for black, avoid red(except you intended to bottom up all the way).

BTW, keycaps size is standardized. Except some old vintage board with gigantic keycaps though...

If you're bottoming out on browns and say you have a heavy touch. Reds are not for you.

You can try clears or buckling spring for more resistance.

I have never once gone out of my way to not bottom out on a keyboard. After a couple of months you may find yourself typing with a lighter touch and not bottoming out with every stroke. I'm not sure what you mean by larger keys. Are you more used to a laptop style scissor switch?

You could try the Nopoo Choc Minis. Their keycaps are slightly "bigger".

The keys are not exactly "larger' but with shorter keycap profile you do get to have more top surface area available than the taller ones (as mentioned above by ripster).

I think I like the Nopoo Choc Minis. I see eBay is the only place to get one. I wonder how long it would take to get here. All the sellers seems to be from Hong Kong. I'm thinking of getting one with Black switchers. No sausage fingers here I actually got long skinny fingers.

That seems to be the case. Typing on this thing is so much better than normal keyboards. I just make a lot more mistakes and I would like it to be quieter. I'm gonna try the Nopoo Black minis and see how it goes.
