Ducky vs Filco and switch questions
« on: Sun, 01 January 2012, 06:04:06 »
So im about to get my first mechanical keyboard in hong kong while im staying here because its cheaper...

but i cant decide if i should get a ducky or filco and the difference between them?

are filcos worth the price premium?

If i get a filco it would be the majestouch 2

but ducky i dont know the difference between their versions...i've looked at the official ducky site...

is dk1087 just the tenkeyless version of dk1008?
it looks like dk9008s is just the led lit version of dk9008 g2?
are the only diffference between dk9000g2 and dk9008g2 the 4 media keys?

whats the difference between dk1008 and dk9000g2 since the dk9000g2 is like ~$40 more...

how much better is the majestouch 2 compared to the dk9000g2 since its more expensive?

Anyone have experience with these boards for starcraft 2 how well are they?

And about switches, are browns better than blues for starcraft 2 since the release and activation point are closer so u can double tap easier?
Blacks have exact same release and activation point but im not sure if i like having no tactile feedback.......are membrane keyboards considered tactile or linear?

I think i want a switch that can double tap the best since in sc2 u gotta double tap a lot to center camera on the selection.

The board will be mainly used for Starcraft 2 secondary use is Dota 2

thx guys.

Filco is a much more solid board better stabilizers better build quality, my ducky feels ok but it feels wobbly and the space bar doesnt look level

I agree with the better stabilizers part but my filco didn't sit flat out of the box either. I had to give it a bit of a twist. That'll probably fix your Ducky too btw. Might be worth tying to reseat the spacebar.

Ducky 1k series: good/decent entry boards for the price.
Ducky 9k series: good quality boards for the price.
Filco: More refined in quality.

Plenty of high level live stream players use blue switches for sc2.
Plenty of progamers in korea use rubber dome for sc2.

You will only use the keyboard for gaming?

black is probably the one with the most oppositions for your fingers might get tired really quick with all t he key smacking.

I'm not a big Starcraft 2 player, since I play mostly FPS games.  Well, I play exclusively FPS games, who am I kidding.  And for me the Browns are better than Reds (especially for bunny hopping), since I can feel the actuation.  With the Reds, I end up bottoming out every keystroke to make sure I hit the key.  It's not bad, just not as good as the Browns, at least that is my experience.  If you wear a headset while gaming, I don't know how useful the audible click of the Blues would be.  But some people love the blues for gaming.  It really is a personal choice.  I think I would stay away from the Black switches, and if you want linear feel, then get the Reds instead, and save your fingers some work.
I ♥ Click Clack.  I ♥♥♥ Bro Caps.
