Browns feel a little different WASD vs. Noppoo

I love the browns on my WASD. On the choc mini not so much. I guess its the keycaps. The WASD keys have a nice sold feel to them.  I kind of like the slickness too.  Can keycaps make that much of a difference?

I have found that the plate makes a difference as well.

i like my black choc's browns better with non stock keys. both pbt blanks and cherry double shots feel alot better and it feels like the switch has a different touch with those. best you try it yourself as it might just be the often quoted mcrip effect that is speaking here.

Do these two boards use a different setup?

Idk what the mcrip effect is but its definitely different. Everytime I use the WASD I love it.  I got rid of the mini (for other reasons).  But everytime I use the WASD I feel like I really like the browns.  Would like a TKL with the same feel.

I noticed that my friend's Leopold with browns feels very different than my Filco with browns. I think it mostly comes from the Leopold's keycaps being slightly thicker. I couldn't say that one felt better than the other though, the thin caps felt very crisp, I suppose because there is less plastic interfering with the feel of the switch. The thicker caps felt more sturdy. Both were good in their own way.

Hmm interesting.  I'm thinking about just being done with it and buying a filco. CM red/filco brown.

Hmm, I prefer the feel of the noppoo keycaps vs the regular abs keycaps.

POM(delrin) keycaps, I love them too.
PBT is overrated. Hipsters will hipsters.

I've yet to try pbt, (new at this). Got a white set coming from qtan. Hopefully I don't end up preferring the WASD style caps over them. PBT's have a texture to them right?

It depends.  Cherry PBTs are damn near slick, but for some reason they don't feel anything like "well broken in" ABS doubleshots.

Which reminds me, I have some space bars to mod that I've been putting off for ages and ages.  Gotta get actually working on some of these things.  Damn jobs and cars and laundry and cooking and cleaning...
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)
