3rd party windowed key caps?
« on: Sat, 14 January 2012, 01:02:17 »
Can you get filco, kbc, etc windowed key caps.

What do all the Leopold, cmstorm owners do to replace those caps lock, window lock, scroll lock keys?

I'd like to change my cmstorm to kbc pbt white engraved or side printed keys. But there is no point if I have to leave 3 black keys on the board.

I might forced to go two tone with black modifiers and have to suffer the funky cmstorm font.

I hope you guys have the magic answer. I thought I'd seen blank white windowed keys before, but can't find them now.

I bought one(from China) at 55RMB b4 ship. Though they are ABS...

Though, you probably need to find shipping proxy/agent/broker to help ship to you.

I have the same issue, though I'm not a fan of bright LED's everywhere. Have you considered drilling a hole in the PBT? it'd be pretty easy to infill it, and since no lighted keys are used frequently in that keyboard, it wouldn't make a whole lot of tactile difference.

So what are you guys doing to replace keys on the many boards with lights on the sides or tops of the keys?

Ignore the fact there is LED under there.

I can still see it shining in the crack between keycaps, so I'm fine. I cover up the exceedingly bright ones on my wasd with spare keycaps (the extra"v" I have from \KL) anyway.

Yea on white you will actually see a glow below the keycap at least with white WASD ones which is what we have planned for the DOX.

For what it's worth, Ducky sells sets of PBT windowed caps. They will be released in white lasered and white engraved soon too.
