Swap MX Springs on a Ducky?
« on: Mon, 16 January 2012, 18:56:03 »
I'd love to be able to swap a few (perhaps 12 or so) springs on my Ducky TKL from the stock blacks to the lighter ones - basically making ghetto reds.

From what I've read, Duckys are plate-mounted, so the switches would need to be de-soldered. The question is, will I need to de-solder all 87 switches, or simply the switches I'd like to mod?

Sorry for the dumb question - I swear I've searched everywhere on here for something similar... No dice.

Just the switches. Unsolder them, make sure they're actually unsoldered by wiggling the legs, and if all is well, push it out from the little center protrusion

So they just come straight up through the plate after de-soldering?

all that you have to do after desoldering the two contacts is apply a bit of force on the center post and the whole switch pops right out.

Excellent, much easier than I had anticipated. I was figuring on de-soldering the entire 87-block. Much better this way!
