Finding Red Switch Board

So I've had my Filco w/ browns less than a month and I hunger for more, I'm thinking reds. Is it worth spending all that money to get another Filco or should I just get a Ducky or Leopold and save my money? Are there other brands you guys could suggest?

Only Filco red's you will find in US or ISO will be used. If you can live with the jp layout, you can get one from keyboardco.

Other then that you are looking at poker, choc, leo, ducky, or rosewill for reds.

If you want a full size, WASD.

For TKL, the CM Storm Quick Fire Rapid from PCHome is pretty much the same as the Filco TKL, but with more logos, logos everywhere.

Yeah, that is ugly haha. I just want quality, I heard that there might be new Leopolds, so I'm going to wait and see, but I think Choc/Leopold/Ducky

I second the suggestion of a WASD if want/need a full sized keyboard. If you want a TKL I would most likely suggest a Leopold. If you want a mini/portable keyboard then you could go with a Poker or a Choc Mini.

I'm leaning towards Leo for now due to price point and size (TKL). Anyone know if they are in fact making new boards in 2012?

I prefer the my quickfire with reds over the leo with reds I had. Stabilizers on the leo have a mushy feel to them. Some people like it I guess.

Definitely consider the stabilizers, costar on the CM Storm, cherry on the Leopolds. General preference leans towards the costars, personally I find them much more solid feeling, my ducky has cherry stabilizers and like lightsout mentions, it feels a bit mushy, it's not a huge deal, but I definitely prefer the CM Storm.

New leopolds are coming, the FC700R, there's a thread on them somewhere, I think the major difference was thicker caps.

Your only other option for a TKL with reds and costar stabilizers is the Filco Linear-R, which was a limited edition and sells used for >$200. You can see why I will deal with the logos, haha.

The keys can always be changed to get rid of the ugly font, if the logos REALLY bug you, repaint the chassis?

I agree that the CM has gross logos. I had a Leopold for about a month and I can say that the cherry stabilizers do feel different from the Coster ones. I don't agree with the people saying that cherry stabilizers are the spawn of Satan though. I think most people agree with cherry stabilizers might need a bit of lubrication to make them feel a bit better. I never lubed my Leopold so I'm not sure what kind of difference it makes, but I think the general consensus is that it definitely improves the feel.

Deciding on a keyboard usually comes down to compromising. Do you want the Coster stabilizers? Then you have to put up with the ugly CM logos. Do you want the sleek look of the Leopold? Then you have to deal with a stabilizers that SOME people don't like. In my personal opinion I think that the look of the Leopold trumps the Coster stabilizers.

I'm with you on that since I have a Filco, odds are I won't notice the stabilizer difference enough and the only thing I'll be able to tell a difference from is brown vs red switches.

I noticed the stabilizer right away.  I didn't even know why it felt different then my wasd at first. But it felt wrong. I was concerned about the logos at first too.  But after changing the keycaps I kind of like it. Was planning on plastidip but I'm not going to bother.

I looked at the CM w/ reds I guess I saw the one with blues, if I changed the keycaps I think I don't mind the two remaining logos. Guess I'll wait for it to appear on Amazon so I can burn these giftcards.

The one with reds won't be on amazon. If you want reds and want it from Amazon, ducky and rosewill are your only options. The CM Storm with reds is a APAC only board and will not be in the us according to CM us customer support so if it ever did show up here, it would be months down the road. As of right now, PCHome is your only option.

If you don't want to wait that long, I would again point you towards the Leo. I got one on the sale for $89 plus shipping from EK and I am happy with it. Once I lubed the stabilizers they are not bad at all and the price was great.

PCHome is really easy to use, just follow the guide. They're unbelievably fast too, my CM Storm got to me in 4 business days.

Really? You call that ugly? Well it is a subjective matter but if you change the key caps then it's fine. The stock fonts are horrible.  Reminds me of razer fonts.

No that looks a lot better than the one with blue switches, I didn't like the grey, but the black and new keycaps looks great.

edit: what blank caps are those?
