Now , Vortex show the new Aluminum Case fit for 60% keyboard

made by CNC ,

1. how much ?? Price will announce in 2012-03 , wait & see , GH friends
2. about color ?? this one just sample , Vortex will show many color what you want , Red, Blue , Sliver , Gold. ...etc

Just look like plastic , don't worry !! That is metal (aluminum)

Because color is black , so look like plastic

Hopefully they will be released sooner, otherwise I'll hope that imsto does another round beforehand.

Through KBTalking it is.
I am suspecting Vortex is a brand by what we know as Costar.
From my talks with the guy behind the Pure, it seems like the factory doesn't want to give KBT that many Anniversary editions. I guess this is why. Whether Vortex is their own brand or a separate entity, these guys probably can sell it at higher volume than KBT.

Well I hope that is the situation because I know there is a great demand for aluminum cased keyboards with small form factors.

I wanted the aluminum case as something more durable to toss in my laptop bag. Though, it seems like it has shallower structure, so worse for carry it around.
PS, that new 87key case looks like the case from CM Storm, which has a side exit cable routing option.

a) The KBC Race that can be found through group-buys is 75%.
b) Vortex said there will be aluminum cases for 60%, 80% and 100%.

I got different impression from that statement. I thought he meant he is going to make keyboards in those sizes, not necessarily meaning they'll make aluminum cased versions. In any case, it'd be nice to get some clarification on this.
Edit: if they have aluminum cased 80%, sign me up for 2. Preferably lower profiled POM caps.

i actually prefer this design. same rigidity, less material. it'll be lighter but just as durable in the ways that count. the only potential downside is that it could be easier to ding up, but from my experience with several aluminum macbook pros, it's the rigidity that really counts.

The low sides won't protect the switches from lateral stress. I would be hesitant to toss this into a laptop bag.

neither does the plastic case on my filco; in fact i've never seen a single case that does this. such a case would be practically unusable because your hands would be constantly hitting the case while you were trying to type. if anything i'd be more confident in a pure because it's pcb mounted. if i were to damage a switch, it's relatively easy to swap in new switch parts.

I am actually more worried about damaging the PCB, since switches are easy to fix. A high front edge could interfere with typing like you said, but should be ok on the sides and back. A slightly taller front edge reduces the area where it could catch on something. Perhaps it doesn't matter, but I would want to stick this in another case before sticking it in my bag. I do like the floating keys look with the low edges though.
If Vortex is making the case available separately, then it doesn't matter about LED. You can just put it on whatever you want, Poker or Pure. Originally it seemed like only the KBT anniversary would be getting the aluminum case (unfortunately only with LED and MX reds).

As stated on the FB Page, a 75% (Race) Case will be available (tough i hope it will not be this low).

I'd like a case with a machanism like the portable Lenovo TP monitor.
Folding the cover under the keyboard and use it as a stand - both made from solid aluminium - that would be very upscale & handy.
Maybe even a small compartment for the cable... with a kevlar (or sth. like that) reinforced USB Cable combined with a lockable ski zipper...
