How do they already have it in stock? I thought there was only the MX Blues in North America until February.

In for 1. Though if you read the website carefully, it's probably not an MX black. It says black as in keyboard color, and a little ways below says switch type depends on region, either blue, red, or black.

EDIT: I have been corrected by the fellow below, it does say Cherry black under specifications. Here's hoping they mean it!

I still don't get why people buy Blacks. They buy them against everything pointing towards being too heavy, they hate 'em and try to flog 'em on the classifieds.

Maybe you guys can enlighten me :p

I've heard they were heavy but I just wanted to try them for myself. The price is right and its tenkeyless which I prefer. I hope I like em. I think its just something you need to try for yourself and determine if you like them or not. I have almost 1 of each switch and I love them all. You never get bored of a switch when you change it up. I hope I feel the same with blacks. Buckling spring feels heavy to me but I love typing on it. Just not longer than a month at a time. :)

The part number lists as SGK-4000-GKCL1-US. That's the Blue version it seems.

Then you get to demo the KB on NCIX's dime and then return it and ***** that they sent you the wrong item.

Dam NCIX I hate that fing site.  They manage to screw up every order I make...

For some reason they can't ship to my work address even though it's authorized on my paypal account...

Oh also, I can't get it shipped to my home since they require a signature to accept delivery.  Only site that I shop on that requires that.

Figured it was blues, considered ordering anyway, dithered long enough that it's OOS again. Because everyone here ordered one hoping for blacks?

How's the quality of the board? I'm considering getting one because I'd like a non-linear board.

I'd have to swap the keys though. What kind of spacebar does it use?

It's OEM'd by costar (the same company) and almost identical to the filco tenkeyless (unlike other costar boards). Even the case is pretty similar. There's only a small number of actual differences. As a result, Build quality is excellent.

All the keys are ABS, including the spacebar.

Just got mine from DirectCanada (NCIX sister company) which had the same typo in the description (same people, copy pasta'd).  I'm loving the blues so far, and this board feels way better than the BW's a couple of my friends have (keys feel more solid, case is infini-better, etc).  Steal of a deal!

They changed the specs on the site to indicate it's blues now. I imagine someone let them know they didn't get what they expected. If anyone wants to sell theirs let me know!

I could never understand the crazy price difference between the CM Storm/Rosewill/PLU and the Filco.

Either corners are being cut somewhere or the Filco is way over priced.
The Filco is overpriced. For the most part, it's the tried and true brand so instead of decreasing price over the years, they increase it; while other brands that are nearly a filco clone that just enter the market comes out at significantly less. If people stopped paying for the filco prices, they would be forced to lower price or go out of business.

I know I'm guilty of paying for the filco branding.

Well it'd have to be a pretty major corner to cut.  The reason is that Filco is considered a Japanese brand, the price reflects that, and the exchange rate for the Yen is not in our favour.  I've used my Leopold for 6 months or so now, so I'm pretty used to how it feels, and this CM Storm board felt more solid just getting it out of its box.  With the feet up the rubber pads do a way better job at keeping the keyboard stationary than the Leopold pads, though the feet are missing pads themselves for the odd time I flip them out.

I've never used a Filco before, so I don't have any comparisons there.  If I had my Leopold and this board in front of me and didn't know there was a price difference, I'm sure I'd still take the CM.  The fact that it's literally half the price to my doorstep is mindblowing.

I ordered one from the link in this post: http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?26160-Cooler-Master-Quickfire-Rapid-cherry-blue-78-Shipped

I had to use a new promo code, DRAGON, and only got 10% off which brings it down to $67.50.

Anyone know if the WASD spacebar is the proper filco style that will fit this keyboard?

I think they changed it when I called in right after I opened my package. I must say that the quality is top of the line, really comparable if not the same quality as the Filco I have. Too bad I already have a Filco with blues, otherwise I would keep it. Now I need to send it back...

My WASD spacebar fits on my CMstorm (with reds). Same with the "normal" SP spacebar I have on there now.

This 'board is almost identical to the filco tenkeyless. I really love the case.

It really does feel great, typing on mine right now.

I just hope Cooler Master keeps this great pricing when they moving the other switches to North America.
Sometime in February I've been told.

Maybe with a larger amount of people heading towards CM instead of Filco, prices on the Filco's will come down.

Yes just order from pc home. CM said a couple months with the blues to test the market. I was nervous with PChome as well but it went fine and the shipping is great. Just use paypal and not your CC. Not that they are some shady site that burns people but still.

Yep... I should have waited. The one in reds looks HAWT with non-asian keycaps.

I nominate this as the best new cherry MX  keyboard under $100 (It's still #2 to unicomp).

Has anyone opened up a CMStorm yet?  From looking and pictures on the outside, there are cable gutter for routing, and the cable looks like is detachable.  Is that correct?  I would like to see the inside of the bottom shell to see if a Phantom board would fit (Phantom is design based on Filco's dimension).  I wonder the the cable gutter would block Phantom's Teensy.

I haven't opened it but it is detachable with routable cable slots.

There's a review somewhere with internal pics (2nd page) that I took a look at.  The post under the A is shifted to between Caps and A.  The post under F7 is shifted to directly over 7 in order to clear the USB connector board.

After looking over the Phantom PCB again, if it were planned for it would be no problem.  The traces running across the bottom side of the KB between the F-row and num-row inhibit punching the necessary hole.  The Caps/A hole also looks like an issue because of the resistor/diode pads on top and traces on the bottom.

Thanks for the link, alaricljs.  CMStorm's case is not going to fit Phantom.  Looking at the pictures there, As little as I know, the CMStorm's PCB doesn't look as nice as Filco's or Phantom's.  Filco has SMD diodes on the bottom of the PCB.  CMStorm has regular diodes and are soldered in between PCB and plate.  The controller is different as well, with more pins, maybe to support media keys and extra LEDs.

It does seems like a solid keyboard though.

Haha, I totally forgot about that.  Maybe we will add CMStorm support next time.  If we do Phantom v2, we will for sure need to do SMD and find a different controller..

I'm interested in the Phantom v2(with possibly AIKON?), and I want it to be compatible with the case of the mStone/CM Storm. We can even try to organize a group buy on those cases from Costar.
