Filco tenkeyless blues, with tons of color keycaps from SP.
« on: Sat, 21 January 2012, 00:02:18 »
Hello there, selling one of my spare keyboard, the model itself needs no further introduction, Filco tenkeyless with cherry blues.

Here's the real deal: I have all these blank Signature Plastic PBT caps, didn't count the exact number but somewhere in 100-110. Bought from our Geekhack group buy last summer(the keyboard was bought around the same time.) The total worth of these keycaps are about $45.

I'm too lazy to count the exact colors and rows of these blank keys, I can tell you is -

1.there's plenty to go around for every key on the TKL board, and then some.
2.There's 5 orange and 5 yellow spherical keycaps, all other keycaps are normal cylindrical (you can see them in the pics.)
3.Two spacebars, orange/grey
4.3 specials- the escape guy, and two geekhack keys
5.colors- red, orange, light blue, dark blue, lavender, grey, yellow, and transparent.
6.I'm throwing some extra caps, like the vintage cherry doubleshots on the number row, and PBT cherry on the  [];',./ keys. (seen in the picture)
7.keycap puller for free.

the Filco and all these keys, $80 total + actual shipping, i'm from CONUS

Any questions feel free to post or PM right away.

thanks!

Bummer, I missed out on this. I really wanted the gray PBT caps. In fact, I had to buy white caps and use black RIT dye to make them gray. If the deal falls through, let me know. And whoever gets these and don't want the caps, please PM me.

Hi I still can't believe it, but I managed to get in on this! Initially wanted to get only the keycaps as well but figured I might as well get the whole shebang since I don't have a blue switch keyboard anyways. Haha.

I haven't seen those keycaps in real life yet (duh) but if I do decide to swap away the greys, I'll definitely drop you a PM. (=

Yeah ... "interesting".  I wasn't aware that bidding was going on.  His PMs with me were worded such that I thought the sale was mine.  He requested my shipping info, then asked me for $110.  I replied that $30 is pretty steep for shipping within the US and offered him $100.  That's the last I heard from him.

This thread was posted at 22:02 local time, and my PM to him is timestamped 22:07.  Did you guys respond before that?

Yeah, no money changed hands.  But the sale that I thought was reserved for me in no way fell through.  Maybe I was not the first PM and he asked me for $110 to try and get you guys to bid higher.  Regardless, no hard feelings at all with you or Kisakuku.  Enjoy the board and the caps.  But I have a pretty sour taste in my mouth.

My response to him is timestamped 6:06 GMT which I figure would translate to 22:06 your time.

You mean your offer was $100 shipped? I did offer to pay more if that would help since many here are discouraged by the high shipping rate to Singapore. He agreed to sell it to me only at $110 + $12 (shipping). Hmm unless Kisakuku offered him alot higher, I'm very curious about the discrepancy in price between offers.

I really hope there are no hard feelings Hasbash, Kisakuku and whoever might have been unknowingly bidding on this.

His response led me to believe (though he didn't state it explicitly) that I was the first responder.  It looks now like you beat me to the punch and he was likely trying to get us to bid against each other.  Or maybe he just would have preferred not to hassle with international shipping if I was willing to match your price.  Regardless, when he asked for $110 I assumed that meant he wanted $30 for shipping.  So I offered him $100 shipped. *shrug*

No hard feelings at all.  Welcome to geekhack, where drama ensues at 110 WPM. :)

Yup his response to me was exactly the same as well. His first response to my initial PM was to right away ask for the address he had to ship to. Oh here's the best part. Can't believe I forgot to mention this: his requested bid of $122 was with shipping to Vermont. When he said he couldn't do international shipping, three things happened:

- I panicked
- continued panicking
- i hit up fb, contacted a friend of mine in the US, begged her to help me receive some stuff and reship it to me (of course i'd have to pay that) and told manfaux that he could ship within the US.

Yup that's how badly I wanted it & I was glad I got it. Now on hindsight, I don't feel so good.

He asked for my address as well, but told me kisa PMd him seconds after he posted the thread. So I knew all hope was lost. Shipping was a little on the high end but I figured final price was still cheaper than a new filco + keycaps so -shrug.

manfaux should have just given it to Kisakuku at $80 + ~$15 shipping then.  All this post-facto auction stuff is just bad form, especially when you don't tell everyone that they're bidding.

Yeah, there was no mention of the original caps in the text or the images, so I assumed it was just the colored blanks.  If you watch the classifieds for a while you can probably get a set of new Filco caps for $20.

I PM'ed Kisa. I'm willing to withdraw my offer if he wants to go through with the trade as I also feel that rightfully he should be the one to receive the keyboard and keycaps.

I'm a simple guy, don't need so much drama in my life lol.

This is the exact same situation that happened to me.
I said, I would buy the keyboard, he replied back okay but I have to pay shipping in full.
Then I gave him my PayPal email and shipping address.
He responded back the total would be $110 as a PayPal gift payment.
I replied back asking why shipping was $30, after that he never messaged me back and I decided something was sketchy about this guy.

Not too sure about that, if the payment is marked as gift, the CC company cannot do anything. I know this first hand as I was scammed in this way before.

The CC company has no grounds for a charge back, I tried many different things and none of them worked in the end.

Actually that is false at least for visa.

If you use the "as a gift", paypal won't be able to help you due to the nature of the payment.
However if you paid with a CC, there's a protection when you buy online on most of them
and therefore you can still get your money back.

But still, paying as a gift is still a bad idea and you get your money faster with paypal
as they are very strict.

This is true but thats pretty much how its done on this site from what I can tell. Unless you eat the fee which I guess is the smarter choice if its not a reputable person.

On the two purchases I've made here, I've been offered to pay as a gift in both of them.

I always give the option to pay as gift or regular payment.

But I'm very OCD about selling. I will keep in constant contact with the buyer on almost every step of the sale till the very end.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

With TD Canada Trust I spoke with many representative, and went into their branch and they weren't able to do anything, so not sure on this, but I'm just giving you my personal experience.

Bottom line, gift = no good

I know, I was just talking about visa, but I certainly agree with your bottom line.
