What switches do they have?
« on: Wed, 25 January 2012, 03:19:04 »
Hi,

I've got the chance to buy this keyboards, and I wonder what kind of switches they have:

[Picture removed due to sellers copyright complaint]

The Keyboards have the following model-numbers (not necessarily in order):
UNIKEY KWD-205D0
VIGA-106
CHERRY MY 3000
KEY TRONIC M/NE05102GR M/O56472
PHILIPS P2814-087
CHICONY KB-5152

Especially the two at the bottom look interesting.

Thanks for your help. Hope the are still available when I get an answer.

the cherry MY 3000 is just what it says it is for switches they are MY switches which have a leaf spring over a membrane switch keyboard more info on http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Cherry+Corporation+Switch+Wiki and from what I was reading else where on geekhack it is somewhat undesirable (i was thinking of buying a MY 3000 but decided against it) but if you want to go for it do so you might like them
Pointing device: Cyborg RAT 7
Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow

I think if other keyboards are interesting I'd also buy the MY-one. The Keytronic looks interesting. They are sort-of Model M style http://keyboards.keytronic.com/home/Shop/shop.asp?sel=48

As this guy isn't far away I think I gonna visit him ;)

the MY looks like it has doubleshots, so that alone is a nice buy.

Chicony might have anything...Ive seen cherry, mitsumi, RD, and more on them before.

OK, was there and took one Keyboard with me.

The Chicony KB-5152 has blue ALPS (bottom in the picture). So far I like them very much. Could become my new favourite. Quite Model-M-Style, not that stiff and actuate a bit earlier. Compared to white (old) ALPS much better in my opinion (Much lighter). Normally I use MX Blacks.

The Phillips is not on the picture, was a Model-M style rubberdome.
I left the Cherry at the seller as I didn't like the Switchet at all - worse than standard rubberdomes in my opinion.
One was very strange (I think it was the keyboard at the top): I was definately a rubberdome, but when you press the button it was like it folded from the top to the bottom (meaning there's some sort of bracket at the top). Very strange but I didn't take it either because it was a rubberdome and way too expensive.

So in conclusion: one great keyboard!

Pictures will follow in the according thread. I'll post a link here.

PS: the # Key on the Top is rather irritating. Good, that German language doesn't use an appostroph very often.

If the cherry had doubleshots you could have sold those here for ~30$^^.
