Shipping to Germany
« on: Thu, 26 January 2012, 18:08:09 »
Does anybody now a way to ship US->Germany for a reasonable price? I'm thinking actually _ship_. Because normal airmail is filthy expensive especially for heavy things like keyboards.
I had a sig once but it's gone. It used to display an icon of a Kinesis. Just imagine that.

I just did DHL again....$115. I'm not making a mistake. USA to Germany, 2 pounds.

I'll try USPS, but they have always seemed to be crazy high.

USPS is around $20 for 1kg, send standard first class, not priority. Online they don't always offer it, you need to take it to the post office.

Really? Not online? What a load!

Thanks for that. the package is less than 10" in every dimension and maybe 2 pounds. I've shipped similar, and it was maybe $30 last summer. I have been flabbergasted by the rates I've come up with online. This is NOT express either.

I swing by P.O. tomorrow to check out! :)

Yeah, just tell them you want to send it the cheapest possible. I still miss sea economy, those were the days even if it did take 2 months.

You still can get that, you just need to send enough to go via container :)

USPS flat rate priority mail "game box" is $58 to anywhere in the world.

You cannot pick up the empty boxes at the post office, but they will deliver them to your doorstep free of charge.

Not as cheap as you might prefer, but a "sure thing" so you will not have to pay more.

PS - the same box is only $15 anywhere domestic and they are pretty fast (<72 hours to Alaska but >4 days to California from Georgia).
“Wise statesmen as they were, they knew the tendency of prosperity to breed tyrants, and so they established these great self-evident truths, that when in the distant future some man, some faction, some interest, should set up the doctrine that none but rich men, or none but white men, were entitled to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, their posterity might look up again to the Declaration of Independence and take courage to renew the battle which their fathers began — so that truth, and justice, and mercy, and all the humane and Christian virtues might not be extinguished from the land; so that no man would hereafter dare to limit and circumscribe the great principles on which the temple of liberty was being built.”
- Abraham Lincoln, July 4, 1858
