My First Mechanical Keyboard has Arrived

I'm so freaking happy that my first ever mechanical keyboard came a day early! I was going to do a ton of pictures but then it hit me to just do a video. So here you guys go.

My Rosewill RK9000 - Brown Switch... now I need to get used to it.

Why yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. :D

Though, the right side of the space bar feels a bit uneven/loose. Is there anything I can do to fix that?

Take it off and look at it. Take off the 2 ALT keys on each side and push up carefully on both sides of spacebar with your fingers.

Hm, alright. I wish I had a keycap puller to make it a bit easier. But I will figure out something...

I use a ruler. And just use it a fulcrum.

Thanks. But I don't have any lube yet. And it isn't making any noise yet. But I think the stabilizer was bent or something.

All my Costar stabilizer boards do that. Put some lithium grease on the stabilizer to dampen the rattle and ignore it. My theory is they have it slightly bent on purpose. When i tried to bend it straight, I get rattles on both sides.

That is very odd. I could try pressing towards the center of the board. But when my thumb travels, its not a really satisfying press. I guess that my next order will be some lube and a keycap puller. Otherwise, typing on this thing is a complete joy.

It isn't odd if you think about it. It acts as a sway bar on a car, but loosely connected in a guide. It probably require some pretension to make it not rattle on both side.

Well, thanks to the awesomeness of this forum, I fixed my spacebar~ Its now working as it should and I feel a bit accomplished and I'm slightly smiling. But I need to invest in a keycap puller and some lube.. any suggestions for where to get them?

Try classifieds for a keypuller. Or get one from EK. I use the ring puller for small keys and the wire one for all other keys.

It's actually pretty amazing how much difference a few drops of lube can make.

My rk-9000 at home got the lube treatment and it feels solid as a rock.   Completely tight and well built. The one at work seems to get more and more loose and rattley. I'll have lube it soon because it hardly seems like the same keyboard at all.

If you want your board to be at its best get some plastic friendly grease (lithium, silicon, di-electric) and lube the stabilized keys.

I thought I'd mention that wasdkeyboards lubes their keys for you.
