AZERTY love? 'Belgisch punt' Dutch Belgian Point layout
« on: Thu, 02 February 2012, 05:19:52 »
Hello everyone,

Shortly I've become part of the mechanical keyboard club with a Filco Majestouch 2 Browns. Yet I find myself already looking through the marketplace for any great deals.

Thing is I'm dutch (Belgian dutch): Is there no love for AZERTY? I hate the layout as for some stupid reasing our words require us to have a different layout even though other germanic languages do just fine with QWERTY.

Have there been groupbuys for boards for dutch AZERTY layouts (with the lovely big ass enter :p). I've see a groupbuy for PCBs to make your own mechanical, and I love nothing more then making my own stuff.

Also: has anyone ever see AZERTY mechanical keyboards (besides Filco) in dutch (because now I'm typing on a french layout).

Or: has anyone seen a place where you can buy high quality keycaps for my filco that has this layout?

Thanks everyone :D.

Dries

Im flemmish to and till now I only found Cherry keyboards and IBM's with a belgian azerty layout
Might just wanna search for the keycaps (from a cheap cherry board) and put them on a compatible ISO layout board.

Layout sucks ass though.

ALPS White Black (fake)Blue

The easiest solution might be buying a keyboard with blank keycaps? Many manufacturers make blank keyboards.

Maybe give ALPs board a try? WASD can do AZERTY layout, if you take the time to make it. Some character can't be made in the online editor, but soon. For right now you can make it in illustrator.

Already ordered blank keycaps, but I'd prefer lettered ones though.

AZERTY users, UNITE!

Why do you even like azerty? I hate it for coding () not close to eachother and those akward alt gr moves...

In the OP I already said I absolutely hate it, we're the only people that use it.
But as I can't really change to QWERTY (because most places I go also use AZERTY, except college), maybe if we get heard, manufacturers would at start also have a azerty layout that's not french. Crazy thought, not going to happen ofcourse.
