Hello everyone,
First time poster here and I wanted to get some input from the recognized experts on keyboards. I have recently switched to a mechanical keyboard in the Steelseries 6vg2(mostly because it was the only one available at the store I was at). I have been toying with mechanical keyboards for a while and decided to just jump in and get one. I have to say that I really love the mechanical feel and typing on the board is amazing. The responsiveness and feel of simply flying over the board is incredible. I am a touch typist so I love the accuracy.
However, ergonomics seems to be a major issue for me when gaming. I am by no means a pro gamer, I play RTS, FPS, and MMO's for fun. More on the RTS and MMO recently so QWERTY and 123456 get the most play. I was using the Logitech G15 with the folding feet flipped in, so the board was basically flat on my desk. The 6vg2 is by no mean flat and I am finding that my left wrist will begin to ache/hurt in a considerable way when gaming for any extended period. I've invested in a cheap wrist rest which doesn't seem to alleviate much. I've only had the board for about 2 weeks of regular use so this may be an over reaction as I get used to the mechanical switches.
Are there other mechanical that have a lower profile I should look into? Tips or tricks to maintain good ergonomics while using the board? Am I just being impatient and this is normal for the "break in" period on a mechanical board?
