Model M cutting out on keyhold?
« on: Fri, 10 February 2012, 10:33:52 »
Having this strange issue, here's my setup:

Model M Spacesaving hooked to my machine with a ps2 to usb adapter (this one)

My mouse which is hooked to my HHKB usb hub

If I'm playing a videogame, and I'm holding the W key, and I'm clicking with my mouse (left or right doesn't matter), the W key will stop registering. Despite me holding it down, it just cuts off. I'll pick my finger up, and put it back down again, and it goes fine. Clicking around, it'll cut out every 15 seconds or so. Anyone else come across this problem? I'm going to test today plugged directly to my ps2 port, and see if it's the adapter that's having the issue.

On another note, I learned how horrible the kro is on M's :(

i'd try to plug the mouse directly into the computer not via the hhkb.

haha, it was more of an impulse buy at my local frys. I have spare ps2 ports, I just wanted it hot swappable. I'll wire my mouse directly to my machine, and plug the SSK into my ps2 and see if it clears up.

I believe I had a similar problem; I would constantly have to press W every few seconds because I would stop running in a game; this was via USB ("cheaper" adapter AND Blue Cube). After plugging the Model M into a PS/2 port, I no longer had that problem (constant press on W nor KRO).

Edit: Disregard the bold; I believe I was using another adapter when I tried gaming with the keyboard.

I have had the same issue in game with my Unicomp on the ball when plugged in to 2-way for the mice and the keyboard by an active adapter that has blue color and lights up leds when plugged in, worked great for typing but when gaming it freezes for a second and you have to release and press again to start going normal again.

Guess what no problems with the BlueCube!!!!!!!!!
