I got my Leo Red last night and it's an awesome switch, smooth and light. I play Sc2 mostly and at the moment the red switches feel a bit odd. Anyone else come from blues>brown>red with the same thoughts?

Kind of thinking about going back to browns, but I do like the lightness of reds.

I come from blue to brown.... and still saving up to go to red.

I prefer how the 're-activeness' of the browns. But i like the sound and the tactility of the blues.

The blues just feel so much different from the rubber domes and it really gives you that mechanical feel. But when it comes to how the keys react I prefer the browns.

I want to try the reds in the future.

I would like to ask you if they offer a really big difference in the softness of the key compared to the browns. When I type fast I can barely feel the tactility of the browns anyway. I am wondering if getting a red board is worth the money or not. They are the same 45gs of force but many say that the reds are lighter because its linear. I am wondering if there is really much difference to spend good money on.

I totally agree with the way blues and browns feel. The tactile-ness I really like.

I've only used the reds maybe less than 5 hours, but it definitely feels softer than the browns. When I am typing, the linear feel is strange, but I know it just needs time. I gave reds a try because the Leo tkl are on sale at EK, $89 is a great price, and plus all the talk about Reds.

Would love to hear from other Sc2 players are the Reds.

I will probably get the red board once quickfire pro launches... i figured since the rapid is cheap for its quality, the pro shouldn't be that expensive either.

Ok ive used both reds and browns for alot of typing at work. the reds are overall smoother in flow because their linear and over the course of the day you still get that lightness feel. Atm im having difficulty picking my preference between the brown/reds.

Blue is still my go to for games though. if it wasnt so quiet at work i would most likely go blue their to. but for this reason ill end up with a topre or hhk2. You do need to try them all but the blacks. blacks are shocking imo. to stiff. also if your unsure about a switch please give it about a week before selling it lol as 30 mins is not really enoughh time to appreciate a switch for what it is. ive tried the main 4 with and without landing pads.

I'm typing on a CM Storm Quick Fire Rapid with reds right now.  They are not as soft as I was expecting (everyone else seems to think they are super soft).  Pretty much like browns but without the bump.  I came from a model M, so my opinion probably has a lot to do with the fact that I tend to bottom out on the keys pretty heavily.

I literally *just* got it, so I haven't tried any gaming yet.  It is a bit odd to type on a linear key.  Certainly doable and way better than the Dell keyboard right next to me.

I went from browns to reds and love the lightness of them, don't miss the gritty feeling of the browns, though I don't particularly dislike it. Haven't tried blues yet. I play a lot of SC2 as well. :)

I went red -> brown -> blue.

Like reds the best, especially for gaming. I can spam them endlessly... and not feel fatigue. Rarely hit the wrong key with them either. Browns are a distant second, but definitely improve my typing experience. And blues... just bother me. I thought I would love the clicky sound but it bothers me more than the people around me.

What do you people like in the reds ?

Im hesitating between Browns and reds, i actually have blues, but I dont need the click. I wonder if I could do away with the tactile bump ... I really like it because sometimes when you think you missed a key, well you know thanks to the bump.

But then, maybe reds would be easier on my fingers. Quite hard to tell, and here, in France, its quite hard to lay your hands on a mech. So dont talk to me about Reds :D

i go from brown to black which is quite similar to ur scenario. They are different but both likable. I did briefly try the red. I can imaging myself liking it as well in the long run.

For black, that linear feel in combination of its strong rebound feedback feels quite nice. From this stand point I do wonder if I will find red to be a bit less interesting.

Strangely, I find the browns easier to type on.  The reds seem to have about the same resistance, but you don't get that relief on the latter half of the stroke.  I've been going back and forth all day, typing on the reds on my laptop and the browns on my PC.  I think the reds will be nice for gaming.  They don't have that rough movement.  I was thinking about trying blacks, but now I am not so sure.

My favorite switches to type on are buckling spring ala my Model M.  Second to that, I currently prefer my Cherry Blues, though they feel just a little too light for me, as I bottom them out pretty heavily.  Part of that is because I used fake White ALPS "fukka" switches for about 2 years, which are I think are pretty stiff.

I currently game with Brown Switches.  I liked the Black ALPS on my ABS M1 a lot for gaming, but I wanted a TKL with more key cap options, so I went to the Cherry Browns.

I don't really like typing on my Browns, though, because there is no click.  I just really don't like a typing experience without that audible click (not just bottoming out).  There is zero chance of my typing on a switch without a tactile bump.  In the same light, I could never game with an audible click, because that would drive me crazy.

I'm getting a CM Storm with Reds today.  I'll be gaming on those for at least a week to see if I like them more than the Browns.  Hopefully, they just feel nice and natural right away, though. :P

P.S.  I don't really play RTS's anymore.  Mainly FPS for MP (Nuclear Dawn FTW!) and any genre singe-player games.

I think for SC2 it's closer to typing for all intents and purposes.  Using the proper hotkeys require good accuracy hitting keys.  I'm still getting used to browns after switching from blues and I feel like I have a clubbed fingers sometimes.

I went from browns to reds for gaming, and I think that both switches have their place. I love the browns for things like SC2 and MOBAs, but found the tactility a problem for MMOs. I currently only use the reds for gaming, since the keyboard with browns is now my permanent keyboard at work, and it's something that takes a little getting used to. Once you are used to the reds, though, it's very hard to go back to gaming with anything else :P

Agreed!  I couldn't imagine using anything other than reds for gaming now, so light and smooth!  I don't rate them for typing though, browns would be my favorite there but that may change soon as I get my ergo clears happening.  It's all personal preference really, as you can probably tell by the replies so far lol

Yep!  I still like the idea of having Brown switches for something like RTS's where you want to feel the actuation when you decide to hit a key.  With FPS's, however, there are dynamics to the movement from WASD.  So, with Red switches, you can just put a little pressure on the key so that it's easier to lift your finger and make subtle movement.  That kind of thing doesn't really exist in a RTS like SC2.  That being said...I think Red switches could allow you to get faster at RTS's if you learn to touch softer (therefore making you faster).  You just wouldn't feel that actuation - which would be hard for me to get used to, since, like I said, I want to feel that actuation in a RTS to know when I hit the key.

I'm loving the Red switches for FPS and other/general gaming so far, though!!!

I love my blues from gaming, some people have problems with reset times, but I think that's ridiculous because I can play with my blues just fine.

I also tried Browns and those are really great too imo. Not a big fan of the blacks (not racist) or reds though.

I gotta say, I love reds for gaming overall. It's my preferred switch for SC2 and Tribes: Ascend (but only because you have to hold down the spacebar a lot in that game). I went blue to black to red to brown and honestly, I think reds are the best for SC2 since I can 1a2a3a the fastest on them. I double tap all the time so I find that I don't need the tactile bump as confirmation since the camera snaps to units/buildings. In fact, I'd say the tactile bump in the browns are kind of a hindrance. I must have really odd fingers because the browns feel slightly heavier than the reds to me and it actually messes me up sometimes if I'm doing delicate micro.

Went from brown to red just because I wanted a costar TKL and the only one still in production is the quickfire rapid which doesn't come in brown yet in the US.

Honestly, I only notice a significant difference when gaming.  When I'm typing I push the keys so quickly I fly right past the tactile bump without noticing, but when I'm moving around with ESDF it is very noticeable.  I'm still debating which kind I want to use at work since they're so similar, but leaning towards reds.

I think the better question to ask is, who DOESN'T switch keyboards when typing and gaming? :P Seriously though, anyone feel like the browns are heavier when gaming? Idk, but when I try to do fancy marine splitting in SC2 or some quick 1a2a3a I can't do it a quickly or as accurately on browns as I can on reds. Maybe because I double tap like a madman.
