Finally, A Thrift Store Score!
« on: Fri, 17 February 2012, 23:34:58 »
Every day drivng home from work, I pass a thrift store. Never been in it. Today as Im drivng by I say screw it, lets go check it out. Browsed for a bit and finally and the back of the store I saw a shelf with keyboards.  I immediately noticed the Dell(AT101W in the attached pic, I had the keycaps off cleaning them. Next the Model M (model 71G4644).  Closer examination of the Model M reveled that it, in fact was NOT a buckling spring, but rubber dome. I admit, was a bit dissapointed. Move the pile a bit and bam another IBM model M, this one with buckling springs.  All three keyboards are in good shape for their age.  Plugged them into the ps2 adapter and they work flawlessly. I bet they'll clean up good.  How much did I pay you ask?  How bout the fine price of 99 cents each!!! when i got home, i was really curious to try out the rubber dome IBM. Plugged it and and started typing.  Damn if it doesn't feel like a mech.  Completly shocked that a rubber dome board can be so good.  Anyway, thats my "What did bacon score at the thrift store today" story

I'm pretty jelly, considering I just got my at101w for 30$ off ebay. Hope you enjoy the black alps, they seem quite nice to me.

This makes me want to go hunting, though in this city I feel like I'd have better chance at the local dump.
