I just sold the exact same board as you. I'm thinking of trying the var version too. How would you compare the two. Do you find the var type more comfortable to type on day to day? I personally found the 55g home row on the 103UB 55 too heavy. The variable has 35 or 45g on the home row, no?
Topres in general have a very smooth feel, that being said there are some things I like and dislike about the var. Mainly the force feels more natural to what I'm use to.
The home row is like this 35g<--A <--45g--> L->35
So 35g from the A to the left and 35g from the L to the right with 45g in the center. Read the wiki
here I do have problems with the occasional pinky press on the A, or a phantom P press.
I suspect the 45g has a good feel, and I'm looking forward to also trying one of those eventually. If I ever find someone with a HHKB locally I might try out their KB for a bit to see how it feels.
