What the Microsoft ergonomic keyboard *should* have been
« on: Mon, 20 February 2012, 12:06:57 »
Nothing too crazy here. I was looking through the various images here ( http://www.talisman.org/~erlkonig/ergonomics/pictures/?sort=name ) -- many, many Maltrons! -- when this pic caught my eye:

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 41208

Compare it to this:

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 41209

or even this:

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 41210

The name of the file, mskeybd-proto.jpg, leads me to think it was a model for Microsoft's ergonomic offering. Since it gets rid of staggered keys and has a separate number pad, it looks even more ergonomic.

Edit: Ah, there was a thread on this already. http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?20470-Microsoft-prototype-split-keyboard&highlight=microsoft+prototype

I only joined in the mechanical keyboard game because i accidentally spilled wine on my ergonomic keyboard.  I had 2 ergo's previously before investing in my DAS.  Mechanical cropped up into Starcraft 2 discussions and it was hard to hotkey numbers with the split.  I still miss typing on them.  i loved the freakout when friends would come by to only act like a monkey trying to turn on a computer when using that keyboard.  If they microsoft would release a tenkeyless ergo, i would maybe get one again.

I wish there would be an affordable NOT crazy looking mechanical ergo keyboard just like the M$ 4000 or 3000 or 2000.
