Old Filcos vs. new on Amazon?

Hi again,

My favorite keyboard is my Filco w/MX Cherry Blues I got from EliteKeyboards over a year ago.  I know EK stopped carrying the Filcos, and I needed another keyboard so I got a Das Silent S.  I've decided that the browns in the Silent S really aren't my thing, so I want to go back to something with the Cherry Blues.

Is this going to be the same keyboard with Cherry Blues as I got from EK?  I do want the 104-key version.  I think I would prefer not to have the Ninja lettering, but I can live with it as long as it has Cherry Blues.

Any reason I should save some $$ and just get the Leopold w/Cherry Blues from EK?

I just checked, my current Filco is part number FKB104MC/EB.  I assume it's the same as the Ninja version, except for the lettering?  Why did Filco stop making (or offering?) keyboards for a while?  Is there a danger they could stop production again?

Well, that's why I haven't pulled the trigger just yet.  I'm currently on a Das Silent S, but it's not really silent.  I'd consider it about the same noise level as a standard membrane board.  I don't think I'd buy the Das again.  The keys turned shiny after a year, and the rest of the high gloss styling is only good for getting dirty.

I love the activation feel of the MX Blues, if only they weren't so loud.  And I would probably prefer about 5g less of activation than the Blues, but it's not that big of deal.  Any recommendations for me?

I am using a HHKB at work and I like it alot but its alot of scratch and I am not sure I think its worth what it costs. Now that I am used to it I love the layout though. I like the feel of my MX blues at home better though. I think I would get one with MX browns if I was going to bring it to work. The browns felt just like the blues to me but without the loudness.

OK, makes sense.  I actually prefer buying from Amazon anyways ;)

Any chance you can recommend a quieter board with MX Blues?  I saw links for dampers, would they change the activation feel?

I own both and yeah they are flashy. Stick with a Black or White body with custom keys; you'll get more respect. Hell, even my Pink Filco with WASD Black keys looks great even if a man was using it.

I would just o-ring some blues.

Lately there has been a rash of group buys for these. See if one is still open, or if extra are for sale.

Thanks, I will go hunting around the board.  How much do the o-rings change the feel?
