Sound of bottoming out this poor keyboard hurts my ears. 121 wpm is fast but not that exceptional, I usually do around 90-100 wpm and I don't really consider it very fast.

Co-star style, but made by iOne and definitely not the best out there...

Well, I certainly can't, but then again I don't consider myself a fast typist, especially amongst other mechanical users, tend to average 60-70

I use http://speedtest.10fastfingers.com/ a lot, just to keep my skill "up to date" or just to relax. That said, the one problem I have with it is that the test is relatively easier compared to typeracer.com or typingtest.com for example. The last two contain texts as they would be in real life.

I think Freddie has an ego issue. Also, his test does not say if he typed every word correctly or not.

Yeah and I think he has practiced the test countless times... it's not saying anything imo.

I also thought about this. It was a text that he has indeed practiced countless times and that put him in a better position. He is fast, there is not doubt about it, but his speed comes at a price. I think it's like a sprint. I doubt can type at this speed for longer periods. And he is bottoming out very heavily.

Yes that's some pretty heavy hitting he does there. I also think that he's not going to be able to hold that speed on longer typing sessions.

i must agree speedtest is much easier than other typing sites. no punctuation, long words, etc. but still very good practice.

Yes, speedtest is very good practice. It actually helped me read and type at the same time. Before I could type by reading what I was typing, but was very bad at reading and typing at the same time.

There is another problem with Freddie: he believes that he is the ultimate fast typer, hence his conclusion: "I doubt it!" He seems to forget that records are meant to be broken.

yep. speedtest is a very good practice site. god knows how many tests I have done there. 174 tests on my profile alone lol (which obviously doesnt count the countless tests I didn't finish the test)
I have noticed that too. at first I was just typing what I was reading but now I always read ahead of what I am typing which allows you to type without pausing at all which is the key to faster typing .
it might sound a bit weird when i say "pause" since most people don't realize it but once you can type non stop then it becomes really obvious when you watch someone else type that there is a very slight pause from time to time
which makes a big difference in the # of keystrokes.

I don't know what you guys have against bottoming out... I do it all day long on all my keyboards, and I type consistently quick throughout everything I type.

90-110 all day, mashing keys, bottoming out... loud... awesomeness.

There is bottoming out, then there is bottoming out. Freddie said that he uses the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate for ultimate typing sensation and without any mushy keys. I wonder how much of the typing sensation is felt when one is BOTTOMING OUT like that.

The whole "being provocative" thing is probably aimed at getting more viewers just like two boxers promoting a fight.

Being #1 means I concentrate more on being accurate and comfortable.

Accuracy and comfort are indeed the most important to me. The best I have done is 110 WPM on typingtest. On average I hit plus or minus 100 WPM. What I am trying to do now is to slow down and change my typing style. I am forcing myself to get into a good rythm, and to use the right control, shift and alt keys more. For example instead of doing a CTRL + C using the right CTRL key, I am pressing on the C key with my left hand, and the CTRL key with my right hand.

To the users above 700chars, do you use both thumbs to press spacebar depending on which side of the keyboard the last letter was?

Pretty much hit a wall at 600chars here...I've only been using my right thumb for space.

hrm.. is that legit lol. it is very easy to cheat on the site especially if you have some macro keys . whenever I see anything above like even 180 it seems pretty fishy.

Yeah I've also tried that but it really feels weird. My left thumb doesn't even rest on space, more like on the edge of the board.
