Commodore 1264 / Cherry g80-499 info?
« on: Thu, 23 February 2012, 15:44:06 »
So I recently acquired a Commodore 1264 / Cherry g80-499 (per inside sticker on pcb) new old stock. I can't seem to find any info on this board at all, seems to be pretty obscure or rare. I tired to test it with an AT to PS2 adapter, and it does nothing but flicker the caps lock led on key press. I am guessing it is XT or something unique for Commodores then? Does anyone know for sure?

Well I suppose I can add a couple pictures...

I took off some keycaps and put them elsewhere since I can't use it right yet.

Also, I have another mystery board. It came out of some unknown, and long gone before it was given to me 80's computer. Like the kind where the keyboard was in the case, ie Apple IIc, Tandy 1000EX, Commodore 64. Any guesses what it was from?

Interesting. I have got a Commodore board that is quite close to yours which does work with a PS/2-adapter. It has normal-sized NumLock, ScrLock and an extra Esc though. G80-0915/2.

I was hopeful it one of the later keyboard that work on modern PC like the Amiga model. I also unburied and hauled out an old P2 machine I have around earlier today and it gave a keyboard error at post. It might just be non functional too I suppose. No telling what conditions it had been stored in the last 20-30 odd years.

Yeah... you know the worst thing about it, is that 1.25 caps lock makes me want a centered stem control key for the capslock position to use on my modern boards sooooooooo bad. Stupid 1.25 R3 ctrl key... I also find the 2.25 tab ridiculous. 1.75 left shift. Whoever designed it was smoking something.
