« Reply #400 on: Sat, 26 May 2012, 23:48:23 »
That's not much of a difference. There's a large difference on mine with retr0brited keycaps mixed with new thinner ones, and it really showed up bad when I took a picture, so I imagine the difference will be almost imperceptible to me once I have it all put together in my dark room.

I'm so excited! I think I may change these over to the CMstorm red so the black case will stand out sharper against the WYSE colours.

I didn't order any extra, but I know a lot of members probably have an extra set or two. Shoot a PM to sth and see if he wants to unload another, and I'll invoice it up. Also, I'll take pics tomorrow in natural light, because warm house lighting ruins colors and I'm terrible at taking pictures.

Def. will do thank you!  and if anyone else reading this decides to go another direction, I would be happy to trade DS moogles, RGBs, what have you or cash of course.  Really just need one set to finish my Leopold - and actually I could leave RGBs on it if I just had a menu key, space bar, and a caps lock.

I went the other way and bought another wyse set for my second moogle.  Problem solved.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221033459373 really, does that need to sit on another board?  The only thing it needs is a teensy, maybe lighter springs if you have a vagina.

****. I have bad news that is entirely my fault. The space bars are not the universal ones that apparently exist, and are standard Filco ones. I didn't specify, and Melissa didn't ask. Sorry about that, any other Cherry stabilizer folk.

Get the numbers of how many people need it, then have a whip round for the cash.  I'd rather you made a mistake that cost me $4 than cost you $400 mate.

You could possibly sell any Filco style space bars the Leopold folks don't want too.  I'd buy an extra space bar or two seeing as how those are the first keys to get shiny.

tbh does it opens up more space bar choices? as a lot of the wyse ones are MASSIVE maybe some size options are a good thing?  If we're going back to sig plastics, did we miss anything with the first order?  I mean apart from only catering for filco users :P

I'm in for a space bar or two if there'll be an add-on order for "universal" space bars.

dunno what fits a Poker, but reading back through it sounds like Quarzac intended to order the six-post space bars that fit Cherry, Filco, and Leopold and ended up with three post ones that only fit Filco/Das/WASD and other similar boards.  Not the end of the world; I've modded space bars before, but it's extra work.  If the price is reasonable I'd definitely pop for another space bar if nothing else because a) I missed the GB completely (although I've already got two responses, so hope is not lost) and b) I intended to use my one set of Wyse keys on a Leopold, so I actually *would* have to do extra work even if I did get a kit.

What I don't understand is since SP apparently has the mold made, why they don't just consider the "universal" space bar the default for orders for a 6 unit space bar. *shrug*

Alright, so how would you guys recommend I go about fixing this? I haven't dealt with SP prior to this, so I don't really know their policies as per something like this. Should I just take orders on a 6 post space bar, and order however many we need and then try to sell the others? Also, if this affects you, shoot me a PM so I can get an idea of how many orders are messed up.

I'd suggest you email Melissa first thing comes Tuesday morning and let her know that there was an error on the order and how much would it cost to fix the issue.  First you might wanna check and see how many people are effected (myself included).

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the standard Filco/Das/WASD spacebar fit the Leopold TKL (FC200R-series) just fine? The universal spacebar is only required for full-size 104-key Leopolds (FC500R-series). Seems like the number of people affected would be small.

negative.

nothing fits the fc500r but the stock spacebar. which is an idiotic move by leopold.

fc200r (well, fc700 too i think) has it's own spacebar too, but the SP universal spacebar fits both fc200r and filco.

Good to know. Thanks, demik. I don't own a Leopold, so I only know about them what I've read on here. I'm willing to throw in a few bucks to help replace spacebars for those affected, although I only need the standard one.

The WYSE spacebars I have appear to be ~10 units long (I got 9.75 using one that got broken in a late night and ill-advised fencing competition)
Heck, I might order a spare spacebar anyway, though I don't dig leopold spacing, so I'm happy with the costar ones available already.

From the PMs I've gotten, it's only a couple people who are completely ruined by it. That could make it easy to fix, or challenging. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

You should be fine, provided you got an addon kit, as if I recall correctly, the Phantom is based on the Filco.

Yup re-read the thread bud and realised its been so long I forgot what I even ordered, but yup there should be an addon kit for me.

So a few people effected and others have the chance of additional spacebars?  Winner! :)

Alright, so I emailed Melissa, and she's going to sell me the spacebars at the 75 set price break. If anyone wants an extra spacebar, shoot me a PM and I'll account for it. So far I have 13, and will probably order 20, unless more people want some. You have until Thursday.

I don't understand what is going on here. Can you explain exactly what you are going to do?

Are the people who want the universal spacebars going to have to pay for them? If so, how much? How are you planning to handle the shipping?

Are the people who want the universal spacebars going to receive the Filco spacebars that they paid for? For instance, I own Filco and Leopold keyboards. This means I need the universal spacebars but can also use the Filco spacebars.

In my PM when I said that I wanted the universal spacebars I did not say that I had no use for the Filco spacebars. From the quote above it sounds as if you plan to take the Filco spacebars that some of us have paid for and resell them to other people. I would not be happy with a situation where I had to pay for two spacebars but only received one.

From the quote above it sounds as if you plan to take the Filco spacebars that some of us have paid for and resell them to other people. I would not be happy with a situation where I had to pay for two spacebars but only received one.
Good point. I didn't think of that. Alright, so Melissa got back to me. Spacebars are $1.48 per unit. Another $2 for shipping. If you really don't want to pay for the universal space bars, shoot me a PM. We'll talk it out, but I'd rather not have to take on a ton of replacements. We'll see how many orders for space bars I have when it wraps up. If you want the WYSE set earlier than the other space bars, you'll have to pay for the second shipping though.

If I can get in on this I'd like a universal space bar, and in any case I'd also like to offer a home for any unwanted Filco space bar or two.  Let me know...
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)

Shoot me a PM. The Filco bars will be going out to the people who ordered them unless they specifically request not to have them sent.

So what is the deal with this set? Are you waiting to ship them until you get the universal spacebars or are you going to ship soon and only  withhold shipping for those who are ordering a universal spacebar and request that their set ship later to save on shipping costs?

I'm going to ship the sets ASAP, order universal space bars, and ship them later, unless someone requests otherwise. People ordering the spacebars will be charged an additional $2 for shipping.
