I keep on seeing a lot of people talk about whether or not keycaps are "filco compatible." I know that its spacebar is slightly different but apart from that, is there anything else about it's keycap fit that distinguishes it from you standard cherry mx keyboard?

Also, are default Filco keycaps made from ABS or PBT plastic?

compatibility -> position of the stem socket + unit size of the key

people name calling filco becuase it is more popular among people here. especially before all the other Asian brands popping out.

Filco compatible essentially just means proper US ANSI layout compatible around here. It follows the set standard key geometry and physical layout common on the majority of keyboards. Most aftermarket keycaps are made for that standard. The most popular boards all have the same standard keysizes, and generally can use the same keycap sets.

Cherry the old school brand seems to like to set their own set of rules despite being ANSI and all that..

Stop tormenting me about Cherry... yes they are super annoying with their mixed up ANSO layouts, off centered keys, boards that have weird sizes like 2.25 tabs and 1.75 shifts for no good reason... etc, etc. Cherry definitely has some rather odd layout boards they have made.
