I'm [less] ignorant.

1) Where does one purchase a KBC Poker with reds?

3) Does the HHK roof fit on the Poker? What is a keyboard roof?

Thank you.

It's kind of hard atm to find a kbc with reds. You are better off doing a "ghetto red" mod.

There is a gb going on now for brown and black pokers or you can try to contact qtan on Gh

I bought mine using an taobao agent last summer.

I thought I was getting a better deal from using the agent than buying from ebay sellers at the moment, but it turned out buying from ebay sellers would have been a better deal.

You could wait until the ebay sellers sell them, or buy them using a taobao agent. I paid around 130 USD for Poker Red with PBT keycaps, including shipping and agent fees. Be careful if you are going to use an agent, there are hidden costs: they use bad exchange rate for you(7% worse than exchange rate from google) and international shipping was 10% more than advertised. I complained about the mismatch of advertised shipping cost, and all they did was to say they will fix the webpage. Even the webpage was not updated for more than couple of weeks (or more).

If you are going to use taobao agent, don't assume anything, ask them and get confirmations. They will probably avoid answering by saying that they don't know how much it will weigh and all, but try to get as much as information if you don't want to be surprised. They usually answer questions pretty quickly.

Taobao price was about 80 USD(500 RMB), but I ended up paying 130 USD. You get the picture..

I have a question regarding KBC Poker.

When you press 'RightALT + Z' it is registered as Del? No matter what, because it's hardware, right?

Dunno if the thread creator is still floating around, but there is one guy (from Canada?) selling Pokers, AFAIK including reds, in GeekHack's classifieds' section. And then there is a group buy/ mass order sort of thingy going on on the deskthority forums (marketplace subforum).

Yes, but I purchased one of the last reds from him.  I think there are only blacks left.  Blacks suck hard.

Wat? All you need is blue/brown/red springs, which are incidently all the same. Blacks and Reds have the same stem, except for the color. And since the poker is a PCB-Mounted board, you don't even have to do any soldering. A pair of tweezers and a small screw-driver or something is all you're gonna need.

Is there any detailed/documented source for modifying black to reds?
If this was possible and was legitimate, I feel like everyone would know by now.. Both black & red lack the tactile bump and are linear, but is the difference really just the actuation force?

can you provide more detail?

Pretty much everybody else does know by now  Yes, lighter springs are the only structural difference between reds and blacks.

They taste terrible.  I forgot about the spring mod.  I've got a data911 that is going to get some new springs soon I guess.
