I never said I'd forfeit... From my point of view, I accommodated his forfeit on Saturday night and waited until today to play, even pushing back my meeting an hour. I would expect at the least the same courtesy done to me.

Sorry for the confusion Rumudiez. I thought you said that you could not play and therefore forfeited the 2nd set of the finals. I am sure Reason will agree to set up a time sometime this week. Just post it in the thread so we can cast it! :-)

In the Geekhack channel chat, right before our 5th match I'm sure you said that I could take the series if I won that game because you weren't able to play after. (like what hazeluff said)

and I never forfeited on Saturday... Reptile and everyone agreed that it was too late and were going to play on Sunday.

The Round 6 games weren't even played on Saturday which would haven't even given me any opponents for Round 7 or Round 8 of Loser's Bracket.

Not sure why you are trying to take back what you've said after leaving the tournament.

Verifying what was said - I distinctly remember Rumudiez saying something along the lines of "If ZingZing wins this round then he can take the tournament as I can't play until Thursday".

We were debating it a bit in the stream, which has a saved log on Twitch.TV. Check it out if you want.

Yeah, check the OP, the stream channel has them.

Not all of them are there though (namely the ones Reptile played and ones later Saturday night, when I was streaming) because they're on my channel... or at least, were on my channel...

transcription from the chat log directly following game 4 on shakuras plateau:
[GAME 4 ENDS]
Rumudiez: i gotta go after this game =/
Hazeluff: = O
Reptile: :-(
Hazeluff: Delay our finals?!
Rumudiez: TT
yttrium: ;_;
yttrium: that sucks
Hazeluff: = (
ZergZingZing: :/
no

ZergZingZing: belshir beach
Hazeluff: Zing please win so there are no complications? = 3
ZergZingZing: ok

xD
Hazeluff: and we play the "final" finals 2morrow
Rumudiez: lol
ZergZingZing: ?
whats final finals
yttrium: if zing wins
the next set has to be played
see
nolliepoper: Can I obs?
yttrium: here's how these work
Rumudiez: im busy tomorrow, he can just take the win if i lose
yttrium: there's a BO7
...alright
Hazeluff: it's some weird double elim rule ...
yttrium: yeah
the normal rule is
there's  BO7 of the winner finalist and loser finalist
and if the loser finalist wins that BO7
they have to play another BO7
if the winner wins that, then he wins
so if the winner wins either BO7 he wins
ZergZingZing: but loser finalist dont have to win another b07 in usual mlgs
yttrium: if the loser wins both BO7s he wins
ZergZingZing: its like bo3
usually
yttrium: yeah
Rumudiez: true
yttrium: MLG is the only league that doesn't do this
ZergZingZing: w/e
yttrium: most others like NASL do
ZergZingZing: lets go
Rumudiez: either way, we should start i raelly gotta go =P
yttrium: a'ight

SC 2 = Star Craft II = http://sea.blizzard.com/en-sg/games/sc2/ RTS (Real Time Strategy)  - was $99 now im sure cheaper..   Think, build base, build loads of units, smash enemys base and units.

LoL = League of Legends = http://leagueoflegends.com/ MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, an abandoned term created by Riot Games to describe the Action real-time strategy genre.) F2P aka Free to play. But you can buy a pack of the game ( I'd recommend this, that unlocks a good chunk of the 73* ? odd characters) pack are reasonably priced. ~$30US This is a 5v5 style game. Controlling one character and working with team mates to kill the enemies base. There is also a 3v3 map which is quite fun, and quite a bit shorter (timewise) think 20min games. And late last year LoL released a new map, which is what I solely play now, called Dominion. This is the business. 25 min games tops! 5 capture points. (think arathi basin in WoW) and it's instant action (team fighting) right from the get go, which I love!

That sum it up?

Brilliant!  Thank you. I can't throw more money at games. Will the geekhack game be playable with the free version?

The FREE Starter Edition of StarCraft II gives you access to the first five missions of the Wings of Liberty single-player campaign, as well as an additional selection of single and multiplayer options.
At any time, you can upgrade this Starter Edition to the full version of StarCraft II to unlock twenty four new single player missions, two new multiplayer races, and numerous additional units and features.

No I think that is more talking of the demo for Starcraft 2. But league of legends is free!!!

I might host a league tournament here as well but organizing teams might take some time.

There are only a few maps that you can do with the Starter Edition. It would probably be good to try though as the game really is a lot of fun. The tournament(custom) maps are not available during the trial. I tested it earlier on my trial account that I used to have.

Now someone go through the VODs AFTER the fifth game and see where Reptile and I agreed that if it is within this week, my losers' bracket matches shall be played. I'm sorry I'm busy until Thursday and do not mean to extend the tournament, but I do want the tournament to complete itself. Afterall, if Reason didn't get his loser bracket matches, he wouldn't be in the finals to begin with.

Australia it was 100 AUD, which is pretty much equal (if not greater now) than the usd.

in the long run idk if there should be drama over the lack of organization or the willingness to take the free win here... granted people would still have to go through me  and namkung in the losers bracket too...

Well I agree organization was a little wonky. Keep in mind we voted to have double elimination 5 minutes before the tournament started to give everyone more games. I still don't know if Rumudiez fully understood that he was forfeiting his games and that is why I said I wouldn't mind for them to play again.

BUT looking at the chat logs from starcraft it is kind of a hard argument.

We need to prepare organization before the next tournament.

Have a designated organizer that communicates with the players and determines the matches that get cast, preferable higher and even leveled instead of random matches from the losers brackets.
The casters being Diamond or higher in 1v1 would be ideal. This will help with map awareness fore those multiple battle situations and drops won't be missed either.
They need to focused on the the task of casting so we don't miss any battles, and they won't be busy on a second monitor while the stream's camera idles on an uneventful spot of the map.
The caster should never zoom in and out and always have health bars on.
Both casters should not be entered in the tourney so we don't miss the better matches and have to watch their own games.
We should have only one channel for the stream so it will cause less confusion and this will be possible if the caster isn't in the tourney.

JK I could do this but it would require me to be more of a **** with match start times etc.
I would love if someone could volunteer to do the streaming / camera action because I obviously suck.

Next tournament will be one day/night start to finish as well to avoid any issues like we had this time.

I don't know about what nollie said. I definitely think the thing needs to be organized better. But I still think our tourney is for fun. It's nice to have a dedicated caster, but it'd be fun to just have people come and go on the stream and chat/cast.

I'll try my best to get this set up - and dedicate time so that I won't have anything to do off-screen. When I am working off-screen I'll set it to the other caster's camera.

I won't enter the tournament then, I guess.

I always keep health bars on, and I'll definitely work on other things like proper tabs (production etc).

I do generally have good map awareness.

Yes, I agree that the goal of these tournaments should be to have fun but we have been shown some unexpected talent come out of the players who entered.
Which in return, has created some really competitive matches and there shouldn't be any reason that we can't have decent casting coincide with those games.

This is what I was mentioning earlier, any work that needs to be done should not be the casters responsibility. Therefore, the caster can give one hundred percent attention to the current game.

I want to believe you but we missed too many battles and drops.

Depending on when the next tourney is and I'm available, I will volunteer the day to helping the tourney run more smoothly
My computer cannot stream the matches I could prove valuable as a caster to help point of anything missed and talk about the match ups during calm parts of the game.
Whoever the casters may be, they should also be active in 1v1's during the current season.

All of the bad camera action was from me. A few times I selected to put it on another casters view while I was doing things but it didn't stick every time.

yttrium's stream is a little better quality than mine and I think he will be good to stream/cast the games.
I can do the z33k stuff since I am familiar with the site and could have the tournament structure in place before the start.

Now the big question is when do you guys want the next one to start? I will also start a new thread about 3 weeks before the start vs. the 1 - 1/2 weeks as before.

Hmm. April 6th or 13th (Fridays) might be a good time for the tournament - it goes into Saturday so that games can be finished up, which shouldn't be a busy day for most people.

Friday the 13th would be cool :scared:

The 6th would be the best for me as I'm free that entire week, but I could do the 13th.

I don't know my schedule. One weekend I'll be out of town. But yeah. 6/13th doesn't sound bad. Tho I reckon we should space out these tourneys every 2 months.

Rep, I think we should discuss the specifics over Skype later today - figure out what date is best, plan the bracket system, pick maps, etc etc.

Let's not take these things too seriously.  They should be casual community events IMO.  That said, since there are sweet prizes on the line we should be clear about the rules, forfeiting, etc.  But I don't think we need to worry too much about the casting.  For something like this it's fun to have a bunch of people rotate in and just talk and joke casually, with frequent diversions into keyboard talk.

Oh I totally agree, but I'll try to keep the stream actually usable - it was pretty bad last time. No planning or anything.

Are players here in GM? I'm trying to discern how much ownage I'm willing to take up the hole before jumping in next round.
