Huge resolution displays like this aren't uncommon for a premium panel like that. I refer to IPS, TN... that sort of thing.

Thats cool, I was more referring to the tiny desk and no where to rest your arms while you type.

Guessing it's one of these; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_T220/T221_LCD_monitors
204ppi on a 22" panel would be... interesting to say the least.

Sadly, I do not have room for a bigger desk in my current room :( I seriously look forward to when I do. Currently I sit at my bed, which is right in front of the bedside cabinet which my setup rests on. My Deathadder is just outside the picture, on my bed.

It is the DG5 model, so it has a maximum setting of 3840x2400@48Hz using 2 dual link DVI inputs. I am currently driving this from my NVIDIA graphics card. An adapter is required to convert the DVI outputs to the LFH-60 inputs required by the monitor.
It does require a fairly chunky external power supply.

I have yet to calibrate it, but it has support for an internal colour table, which is nice.

Older IPS panel though I believe it's still relevant to current IPS designs. There's also a couple of rebadged versions as well.

Here's one at 51Hz.

It may also seem to be possible to get it to go up to and over 55Hz with a hardware and firmware modification. Not entirely sure how legit that site is but at least it does offer some interesting information on the possibility of improving refresh rates.

And a couple of videos from different people using the T221.

And here's a website that has the pictures of an IBM T221 in use to show how much space it offers even offering the original size.

It is very crisp, playing games like OpenTTD on this is quite amazing.

I just wish I had some 4k film to watch.

4K? How is 3840x2400 4K don't you mean 3K? If it were 4K then we would be looking at 4096x2560 panel or 4608x2880 or whatever variable low resolution of 16:10 they use as the preliminary resolution multiplier depending on the computer display standard.

I have seen youtube and a few other media sites put out support for 4K so you might want to pop in a video albeit I doubt it'll look as good as the film. Not much but run it in Original to map out over 3840x2400; At least it offers something.

Arc'xer: 4k only refer to horizontal resolution of roughly 4k. Quad HD is considered 4k. I hope panel makers wouldn't stick with the stupid 16:9 ratio. Unlikely though, since they can claim larger size with smaller actual surface area.

Grats on your new t221.  They are certainly unique displays....I particularly love the weight and thickness of it.  Doesn't it just ooze with the feeling of high quality?

I tried one of these for a few months before the 27" cinema display came out.

What I didn't like:
- 2x dual link dvi requirement as it didn't leave me much room for other displays.  It's even becoming hard to find cards with 2x dual link dvi now.
- Input lag kills it for even casual gaming.
- Most antiglare coatings annoy me in general, but the display's insane dot pitch seemed to exacerbate the problem.

I came away with the conclusion that these have their place in certain fields (medical, engineering, finance, photography, etc).  Mainly suited for specialized work and not so much for leisure.

Absolutely amazing for its time though - must have seemed like alien technology if you had the chance to use it back in 2001.

I hope you enjoy it.   BTW, theres an owners group at Yahoo you might be interested in.
