Buying Kentucky Wildcats from unicomp?
« on: Fri, 30 March 2012, 11:36:09 »
Hey, I'm not sure if anyone remember but like a week ago I asked you guys for a new mech keboard to get and some of you pointed that if I'm cool with a blue switch I should get a buckling spring one, and you said I can buy a new one from unicomp. so I picked a model and it was a one with a usb and the cost was 80 bucks, so you said I  should buy that one, now I found another buckling spring keyboard from them. it is called Kentucky Wildcats and it's under the Bargain Rack section, it costs 60 bucks and that's good, what do you think, should i get the new version that costs 80$ and it's new or should i get the Kentucky Wildcats? did anyone buy the Kentucky Wildcats?

From what I've heard, the Wildcats keyboard is on par with the $80 ones and if you don't mind the theme is worth it for the value. It is PS/2 though and doesn't have the Spacesaver chassis but rather the Unicomp classic one.

Basically, go for it.

Unless you have something against PS/2, otherwise don't.

It may be an older revision of the Classic 101 hardware - as I understand, they made a bunch a long time ago to demonstrate their customizing capabilities, and couldn't sell the things.

(I'm not sure of all the revisions of the Unicomp hardware, or when those were made, but it's likely closer to a Lexmark-made 42H1292 than the modern-day Classic 101 PS/2.)
