remapping pure fn keys to poker layout by software?
« on: Tue, 17 April 2012, 12:13:59 »
I bought a red switch poker last month and I use it as my day to day coding work at office.

It's great and I love to use it. I want to buy one more but red switch is out of stock.

Now, kbt pure special edition is coming and I am considering to get one.

Anyway to remap pure FN key layout as poker's layout by software?

Pure got different FN key layout and I don't want to change my poker habit.

Not possible, since the computer can't tell if you pressed an Fn key or not. Therefore, if you need a 2nd compact keyboard with Poker's Fn layout, forget the pure and get get a second poker. There are however some alternative workarounds, like using one of your Alt keys as AltGr configuring Autohotkey in windows or xmodmap in linux to assign stuff to altgr+whateverkey.

If the same keys are used for both layouts with fn, you can remap the result keys. (for example if on the pure fn + 1 = F1 and on the poker fn + 1 = chooseakey, then you can remap F1 to chooseakey) but if some key are used with FN on one keyboard and not on the other, it's harder.

The short answer is no. I was curious about just this and spent a chunk of last night remapping my Pure to a comfortable layout. Not all of the same Fn-keys are mapped to keycodes on the two keyboards.

Thanks to your quick replies. Luckily KBC folks just tweet today that a new lot of pokers will be available very soon (end of Apr). I will get another poker than.

Yep. Bought from qtan a couple months back. Modded slightly to have a bit more heft and a bit less PCB-bounce. It's what I was typing on when I came to Taiwan last week.

A local little shop in hong kong. The shop keeper have ordered some for hk folks.

Pure anniversary version.
Race anniversary version + keycap.

Seems he ordered and paid over a year ago.

He tweet that they will be available at the end of this month...

and KBC guys said pokers will arrive at the end of this month too..
