My first negative feedback.
« on: Thu, 26 April 2012, 14:52:21 »
This is more of a rant so if you're not in the mood please don't read.

I've been selling keycaps on ebay and fortunately came to met a buyer who we will call George.

Now i sent the keycaps the very next day after he had paid for them but came across a certain problem. The lady at the post office that day continuously refused to give me a tracking number or any delivery confirmation because my package was too thin.

So i sent him this message apologizing to him that i could not provide a tracking number with his order.

He never replied.

Until one day out of the blue he decided to send me this message.

Then i replied

Which received a reply like so

And the grand finale

MAN, its so frustrating to maintain good strong feedback to only have it ruined by one a-hole.

Has any other fellow GH'ers who ebay experience this?

PS. Got too lazy to really censor his screename. That isn't harmful is it? Its available to the public.

***UPDATE***
i just couldn't stand him cussing at me constantly even though i tried to relieve the situation and help him out as best as i could in a civil manner.
Heres his most recent message to me.

For anyone whos curious. He ONLY orders keycaps and such. Hes only made 5 purchases since 2006 and 4 of them were for keycaps with 2 orders from qtan(couldn't check the one purchase because it was too old).

He seems insistent that i ripped or scammed him of his keycap. He lost nothing. I refunded his money when he consistently wouldn't help fix the solution and continued to curse at me which didn't solve anything. Apparently he must be super smart because hes from Brooklyn(I honestly don't know why he brought this up)

I would forward all that to ebay, and they will likely remove the negative feedback. There is some form somewhere to get that rolling.

I don't see how you could have done much more than you did. I'd be perfectly happy with how you handled the situation if I was the buyer.

Sadly, there are some people who just have to feel wronged, even if it means being completely unreasonable and petty. Such is life :-(

This guy is from NY :\ Normally i print all my shipping slips off ebay because those come with tracking numbers but i was busy on the day i shipped his package out so i decided to hand write his address and ship it faster. Post office lady kept insisting it be atleast a few inches thick before they would attach tracking or delivery confirmation.

Yea he continued messaging me and i ended up cussing my head off at him too after trying multiple times to be civil with him. All he would do was call me f*g and other things.
I REALLY can't do anything to him :\. I left him positive feedback because normally i usually just give feedback the moment they pay and wasn't aware that the package would get lost :[
Ebay won't help me at all unless his negative feedback contained vulgar language, personal information, or threats.

I'm somewhat over it but man this guy was a total prick

If anyone knows or heard of this guy "Gregory" from Brooklyn on GH please avoid him at all costs. He kept telling me "i don't give a sh*t about you or another free key. I want the key i ordered you f*...blah blah blah" even though i consistently insisted in helping him out. He's ordered from qtan and seems like all he does is order keycaps even though he only made like 4-5 purchases on ebay(his account was made in 2006 -_-)

I edited my first post more just in case.

ebay is totally prejudiced in favor of buyers and against sellers.

the age-old "supply / demand" equation: if a demand exists, somebody will jump up to fill it.

reading the fine print tells a seller that if he has delivery confirmation, he is safe. when I started on ebay, I did not use delivery confirmation until after I had been screwed by an international buyer.

well, "screwed" is a relative and/or philosophical concept: am I, the seller, unconditionally guaranteeing that the item will arrive safely in his sweaty hands, or am I guaranteeing that a well-packaged item will be posted promptly?

this buyer said he never got it, and he lived in Ireland where the US Post Office could not confirm delivery, so Paypal sucked the money out of my account immediately, without even notifying me that there was a complaint.

eventually, I put a statement like "not responsible for items shipped internationally" in my terms and conditions statement, and have not had a problem since.

whenever I did have a problem, I gave a prompt full refund, or shipped a new item, if I could, immediately.

that has kept me safe from negative feedback, but I have still had a few flame battles with hostile weirdos.

you should reveal the name, unless it's gregory? cuz well while i am also from Brooklyn and agree common sense is built into us, we're(bklyn'rs) are getting a VERY bad rap cuz of a new tv show called Brooklyn 11223 (which is also the zip code of where i grew up in). Somehow they found the same dumb Jersey Shore girls that like to hang out at the Coney Island beach (probably the stankiest beach anywhere stank meaning, disgusting, not the type of girls). Anyway call him out! It's the year that I have to defend Bklyn!

btw i think you're screwed, ebay has historically gone on the side of the buyers and said FU to the sellers, and of course paypal feels the same as well.

It may seem minor sometimes, but few things can make you angrier than trying to discuss things with people who cant see both persons point of view. Its mind boggeling how diffrent some people are. And sad. Imagine being that guy btw (the buyer), how he must have so much trouble living in this world, when he reacts that way and goes insane to a simple lost keycap :D And we all know how much we can love a keycap, but still.

Lister i am fully aware that i am selling them at a higher markup. But due to the ebay fees and paypal fees i have to sell them at a higher markup. If i were to sell them here for $3 each i would still be bashed nonetheless. Which is why i try not to sell any of them here because too many people are jumping on sale threads and threadcrapping :\. You have effectively raised the price of keys for everyone as the pricing tier has now changed. The GB organizer doesn't make money off of the keys so why do you feel it is appropriate to buy 100 key to make profit off of them. You are crapping on the community effort.

Well I think the change to flat-rate for GH keys was a good call - so GH/iMav gets a fair donation, unaffected by volume buys. *hat tip to demik*

Really, the main reason I like to buy GH keys is so I can 'donate'.

We're going off the original topic but:

Demik kinda let you in after the thing had already closed. And you take advantage of his time he spends for the community, to abuse the system and buy a ton of keys just so you can profit.

This is why we can't have nice things here. This is why demik is no longer doing the SP price tiers.

I understand if thats the case i'll remove the keycaps from my listings. I'm sure nobody would be offended if i were to buy them direct from SP correct?

Btw guys i'm only reselling keycaps because i need help paying my school loans. I'm not here to screw everyone over. I'm not sure what to do with the remaining amount of keys but if this is what you guys feel i'll remove the listing.

It's not my site, but I would be. You're using Geekhack's name to make a profit and we get nothing in return. With the monthly group buys, we all get something (at least the ones the want to participate). Members get their keycaps, and geekhack gets a donation from the money left over and the sale of extras.

But, like I said, you're free to do as you please.

Now everybody, please go back to the original topic :). I know this is off topic, but lets not go too off topic.

If you don't feel it is wrong, then you should continue to sell them at whatever price you need to.

High ebay fees is not a good reason that you need to sell them for higher price.  You didn't have to buy the keys to sell them at a loss.  Needing to pay for school is also not a good reason to sell them at higher price because you are going to school is not because you are selling keycaps.

Wanting to make money by selling the keycaps at higher price is a good reason and a honest reason.  Saying anything else is disrespectful to the original group buy organizers of the group buys you bought keys from, and disrespectful to the rest of the GH community.  You took advantage of the original group buy organizers' effort and you profit from their work.  If you do all the hard work, getting legends made, dealing with SP, sure, by all means, charge however much you want.

But like I said, if you don't feel it is wrong to do what you are doing, then you should continue.  We can't stop you anyway.

Lister i'm selling the keycaps to help pay for my school fees not cover them. At most i'm spending it on books. I'm trying my best to alleviate this situation but i still feel like you're not satisfied. I've donated what else do you want me to do -_-. People have already stated why i shouldn't be selling my keycaps at a certain price and heck even i agreed to it in the end. But you continue to kick the dog more even when its down :\.

My reasons should not even be judged by you. You are not involved in this.

Honestly you're making it sound like i'm trying to hurt the GH community intentionally trying to bring it down. My financial status is not in good standing. I needed money. Not even for the wrong reasons. Can you please just stop bashing on this topic?
