So, the board I was so "lovenly" restoring, suffered a great loss last night.... In a horrible attempt to dye the keys (I've done this many times before), I suffered a serious attack of A.D.D. and left them on the burner for over an hour while reading the wonderful GH wiki articles, it was the smell of vinegar and charred plastic that wafted in across the house....

So, now I need all of the beige/white keys (minus WASD), or a full set capable of fitting NEC Blues (I don't know what else to call the damn switches, since they're custom ALPS apparently.)

Here's the horror...

EDIT: Also, NEC Keycaps do not like dye either. This was the third 15 minute session, and they were only a molted brown/grey.

Ouch!

Are you dyeing ABS? If so, how?

Thanks for your sacrifice
“No political truth is of greater intrinsic value, or is stamped with the authority of more enlightened patrons of liberty: The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands .… may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” —James Madison, Federalist 47
“All the powers of government, legislative, executive, and judiciary, result to the legislative body. The concentrating of these in the same hands, is precisely the definition of despotic government. An ELECTIVE DESPOTISM was not the government we fought for; but one .... in which the powers of government should be so divided and balanced among several bodies of magistracy, as that no one could transcend their legal limits, without being effectually checked and restrained by the others.” — Thomas Jefferson, commentary on Federalist 48

Ouch, that's really bad.  I think that your best bet will be to find another keyboard on ebay since the keycap stems aren't compatible with ALPS or cherry mx as far as I can tell.  I know that my father's been using one of these NEC boards for about 10 years and I'm not looking forward to the day when something more disastrous than a spill happens (the spill was easy to clean up).

A quick search showed these:
missing F3 key

looks compatible but it's a laptop keyboard so every key might not be the same

hilariously expensive, missing left Alt
