Samsung board with Futaba switches
« on: Sun, 29 April 2012, 18:12:39 »
A few days ago, I found at Value Village in Toronto, a Samsung keyboard, for $5.99. Very clean, looks new. I looked on eBay and found one for $65, very dirty.
FCC ID: GJJ4AKEAT-IOIODS
TYPE NO: M1USA2A-I5
SER. NO: 9HAD000501
Made in Korea

It has DS keycaps, which is shown in the SER. NO, and is manufactured by SeJin, see GJJ in FCC ID.
I couldn't find out the manufacturing date. It has a dip switch for Auto, AT and XT, but it's untouched, i.e. it has the untouched label over it and the setting is AT.
The switches are Futaba, which are no longer produced.
The typing is funny, for the sound comes after the bottoming. It's close to Model M, or white Alps.
I posted here, for I didn't see any references for Futaba switches in recent days on geekhack. I would like to find out whether it can be turned into a silent board, though the sound is not so bad when you get used to it.

I had the exact same keyboard. I didn't like it =S sold it for $15.
If you live in AZ you can try my keyboards. I usually keep plenty of different ALPS and MX and buckling springs.
