Filco guts :D [My BLUE for your BROWN]
« on: Fri, 11 May 2012, 22:38:32 »
Redoing this thread because of rollbacks.

Looking to trade the insides of my MJ2 Yellow Edition (plate/pcb) in MX BLUE for your MJ2 MX BROWN. My warranty sticker is still on, and I've only had this kb for a couple months. I love my yellow caps/case, but want brown switches now. Hopefully this will work for someone looking for blues which arn't exactly easy to come across in the US right now.

Here's the only drawback for you; I would need your parts shipped first because this is my only board. I would then mail these blues back out with something like 3 day shipping, and throw in purple wasd cluster that came with the yellow edition and a pedo bear if you want it. (brand new, never used) I have positive feedback on here and my Ebay account (not looking to **** anyone.) I just don't have anything to use if I mail mine.

Derp. Yeah TKL for TKL

I have a Filco with browns that I would love blues in. Not sure if they're MJ1 or 2 though.

I've never gutted a Filco before; how difficult is it?

You won't be able to change the cord color though.  So if you have the internals from a camo...then you will be stuck with an olive green cord.  Black filco= black cord, white filco=white cord, etc.

I haven't opened any of my Filcos (yet), but doesn't the USB cable connect to the bottom of the PCB using a plastic connector? I wouldn't think the cable is soldered directly to the PCB. You could just swap the cables there.

In fact, I saw the connector in Feng's picture of the acrylic TKL case (I hope Feng doesn't mind me using his image):

KMAC :: LZ-GH :: WASD CODE :: WASD v2 :: GH60 :: Alps64 :: JD45 :: IBM Model M :: IBM 4704 "Pingmaster"

My bad.  It is a socket cable, so it isn't directly soldered to the PCB.

If I get my RealForce tomorrow I can trade you the guts from my filco. It's a MJ2.
