BenQ KX890 new mechanical keyboard

Interesting aesthetic here, probably not the sort of thing geekhackers go for? interesting non the less.

-Looks like they'll be a choice of 3 switches. Black is one of them.
-reroutable cable (like cm storm boards)
-usb cable isnt detachable
-abs keycaps
-the button in the top right turns on/off windows key
-USB 6KRO

As the kids say, lolno.  But it's nice to see another player in the marketplace...another step closer to mechanicals moving towards sane pricing?

Bigass enter ruins it. I sort of like the translucent red keycaps though.

We can only hope prices start to decline.  For me that would be a bad thing - since I'd be prone to spending more than I do on boards/caps than I would typically.

And I'm not sure why, either, but I like that white board with orange/red translucent caps.

I have a feeling we could get a bigger enter key into production at the cost of other very useful keys.  It appears that some sort of market for it must exists.

Just had a vision, that keyboard, a fancy glowing mouse and one of those transparent pc case that was so popular in 2004 would look so badass!!

It's like the opposite of my D07-135: translucent orange keys and an opaque case, instead of opaque keys and a translucent orange case.

I came across this keyboard somewhere and when I searched for it I came across this thread. The enter key does bother me but that white and red one looks so awesome. I would get it just to have it.

The orange keys do have a sort of allure, but not with the big Enter key.

Is it backlit?  I have a feeling it would look kinda weird being backlit.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I was debating this Benq keyboard and my current keycool87.  The price was little bit higher but I really like the transparent keycaps.  But the problem was, Benq was ONLY available with black switches for now.   So I went with browns on keycool.  I would have ordered BENQ if it came with reds or browns with LED.

Still enjoying my first mechanical keyboard. ^_^
