Idea for a CTRL Key
« on: Sat, 09 June 2012, 15:03:02 »
I use have swapped my caps key to a CTRL key but I left my original CTRL key there because I need it to crouch / duck in FPS games. This lead me to a great idea because I don't need a caps key and I don't want two CTRL keys on my board.

I want to change my Original CTRL key to a key with a rubber ducky   (FOR DUCKING) . Preferably I'd like to get a military helmet on him if possible here is a pic I found to show you what I mean.

Can any one direct me how to get started on this? Anyone else interested?

EDIT**
Incarnage did an awesome job getting this idea on "paper". I added a few details I thought might make the key more to my liking I have a prototype here. What do you guys think?

You'd have to get a .SVG file. Someone like hazeluff can make it for you if you ask him politely :)

LOL

I don't have a capslock key with a ducky but I have a Ctrl key with a tri-color ducky. Soooooo close! How funny.  XD

I was describing how the keys were. But I would need the ducky to fit the CTRL key spot so your actually right on. Got any pics? lol

Incarnage that's exactly what I meant. For some reason I feel like it should face the other way but thats a super easy flip!  That is an amazing draft of the idea. I feel like it would be awesome to get a few white and black keys done up. This could be really cool.

Could I get a copy of the file? I'd like to try and smooth it up a bit and try to see what an eye / shin strap hanging down might look like.

I just took a screen cap and played around a bit with Incarnage's original pic. Still very rough.

Nope don't mind at all. You came up with the idea after all.

I did smoothen the duck further too and added that little brown latch thing.

EDIT : Removed URL thing. ._. Maybe it's not so safe to be posting up a dropbox link here..haha xD

Wow well done. It's just awesome how you managed to draw almost exactly the way i was thinking of it!  I wonder hos much detail you can get away with on these things. Any experts here?  I think we are already beyond double shot but not sure about the limitations of dye sub.

I pulled down the straps to beneath the really nice white / black borders you had on the helmets and added eyes. I like them but not sure if its to much or to big. I didn't copy / scale just made a new one on each duck.

Some of the new portal keys should give you a good idea of what you can go for.

Oh! =P
I thought I was initially right but then I confused myself. XD
Yeah, I have a pic somewhere and if I can't find it when I go home I will try and take a quick pic and post it up.
Sorry I got a bit sidetracked the past couple of days (LoL).

p.s. The duck points to the right on mine with a bigger wing, other than that I'm surprised at how similar it looks to your pictures! I don't have a military helmet on it though. Although that's a neato looking key for sure.

Sorry about the delay, Things have been five kinds of crazy around here lately and I was never able to find the old photos so I actually had to go look for the key.
Any who, here it is, enjoy -
