It's just an airsoft replica of a Les Baer. I can't afford the real one.  :p

I was tricked  :( .... damn these airsoft clones.

Here are my airsoft SCAR 16 and 17 clones then... finished them off finally with some new optics  ;)

They look awesome. I thought they were real when I first saw them.

Going to my 3rd IDPA match tomorrow. I'm going to take that trophy this time  :D

It's fun!!! Once a month I get to run around and shoot instead of going to the range and shooting at paper targets. Most of the people at the match were very helpful and tried to help me out when I did something wrong.

I knew it!!  ;)  I was going to ask where are the orange tips but I didn't. I thought maybe they were some really expensive airsoft guns. Some of them are $2000-$3000 or more.

So True.... I was looking into what hardcore airsoft players use for their setups and its almost the same cost as the real thing so I just skipped the airsoft part and when to the real thing....  :p

Awesome collection, megnin. I have a Kershaw Skyline but yours is nicer w/ orange handle.

I think it will be craaaazy at the show. It's been crazy where I live. I couldn't even buy a box of ammo at Walmart or gun ranges. I stopped at a gun range trying to get some ammo last week (they didn't have any 9mm) and noticed that their rifle wall that was usually full was pretty much empty.

that sucks, i just checked tds-us to see if they had any federal hst and it's all on order.  what the hell is wrong with people?

oh, that's right: just about everything.  i'm pretty sure this is one of those phenomenon which has no rational cause, it's just like how people mindlessly parrot "THE ECONOMY......" when in fact nothing has changed.  it's kind of amusing how humanity evolved the ability to adhere to arbitrary rule sets, and thus owing to a bit of cognitive flexibility, **** like this happens.

Tell me about it.... even here in cali, where we are suppose to be a liberal state things are flying off the shelf.... Thank god I was stocked up on parts at least. Ammo is another story... :(

I was planning to go to the next gun show near me but with all this panic going on, I dont know if I want to go now..... I will see how bad I need ammo.. hahaha

Let's start a network here, if anyone is looking for items - ammo, parts, etc ... post your request here and hopefully people can point people in the right direction...

..and to add another pic... actually here is the last purchase of the year for me. luckily seller wasnt gouging on the price so I had to pick it up..

hate that p90 type thing (whatever the name for it is) with the extended barrel, so hideous.

i was actually looking for a normal barrel for a sig p226 in 9mm if anyone happens to have one for sale.  doesn't really matter if it's used, mine only came with a threaded barrel so looking to get a normal one for carry.

Folks, I am looking to make a couple more purchases soon. Do you have any recommendations for me?

I am leaning towards a Sig P229 .40sw and a Glock 19 9mm. I wanted to get a Mini-14 but all the rifles that are likely to get banned are becoming VERY scarce and expensive in my area.

I already have the P226 9mm and the M&P22 which I am thus far very happy with.

I would recommend the glock 19 since you already have a sig 226...... something different and its priced pretty well.

I love my glock 19  :D

I'd go with the G19. Since you're already invested in a 9mm, you will be able to use that ammo in both weapons. And 9mm is cheaper to shoot than .40S&W, making more practice shooting possible, since dollars spent on 9mm rounds will net you more ammo than the same amount spent on .40. We could debate here all day the merits of each of those calibers, but in the end, I consider them to be equivalent.

If you want a bigger caliber, my money is on a .45ACP. Forget about expansion, fast/light vs. slow/heavy, temporal cavitation, etc. All modern hollowpoints will expand reliably in modern firearms. At the end of the day, in a defensive handgun, you either want lots of rounds to put downrange into your intended target (9mm), or a bullet that makes larger holes in the target, thus increasing blood loss and incapacitation. The .40S&W was designed as a compromise caliber, to fill both of these roles simultaneously. And while it does both to an extent, it does neither as well as the original.

Beyond a .45, I want a 12-ga shotgun or a centerfire rife of .30 caliber or better.

No matter what detractors may say, a well-placed shot from a 9mm will stop an assailant just as effectively as a well-placed shot from a .40 or .45. "Spray and pray" is much less effective.

I already have the P226 9mm and the M&P22 which I am thus far very happy with.

I'm an HK guy myself but I will say that sigs are very fine pistols as you already know with your 226. My brother owns both a 226 and 229 and he feels the 229 is a bit top heavy. After shooting my USPs I can pick up his 229 and it feels fine to me. It's all subjective. Like most sigs it points really well for me also....well almost as good as my HKs  :)  I'd say if it feels good in your hand then it's a win.

As far as the glock 19, in my opinion the gen3 19 is one of the best all around pistols you can buy. I still kick myself for trading mine in. I'll probably end up buying another one someday. As long as you don't mind that glock grip angle it's size, weight, accuracy, capacity, and reliability make it a superb "do everything" gun. I seem to recall some light spring issues with the gen4 9mm causing them to malfunction. I'm pretty sure it's all sorted out by now, and I'm not sure if that was specific to one model. I believe it was either the 17 or 19. Just throwing that out there. Another option is a glock 23 .40 which is pretty much exactly like a 19...there's also conversion barrels out there so you can shoot both calibers out of the same platform.

Edit: to add to my mini wall of text I agree with jd. I've narrowed my handguns down to mostly 9mm or .45 and I don't plan to stray outside those calibers much at all anymore. Wasn't sure how set you were on a .40 that's why I threw the g23 option out there. Most people I know that shoot .40 only do so because their employer makes them.

^^^ Defintely well said... my thoughts exactly. For me personally I like shooting .45 vs .40, .40 too me was too snappy when I was trying to decide if I wanted to go .40 or .45...

If you can find one still and want something different than the plain black glocks.. try getting the FDE version in Gen 3

Thanks folks...yea I def like that color on the Glock jpm. I was thinking of the P229 because my Uncle has one and says he loves it, plus my other friend is a fan of the .40sw. I am not sure though...only .40 I've shot was my friends' polymer S&W and I couldn't stand it. I hear the P229 is very soft for a .40 though.

From my own experience owning (now sold) and shooting a .40, I can tell you that the recoil is exactly as jpm described. "Snappy." I always use that exact term when I'm describing the recoil of a .40 to my friends. When shooting, the muzzle of the handgun recoils sharply upward, causing you to lose sight picture and increasing recovery time from shot-to-shot (aimed).

The 9mm and .45 both have less perceived recoil, to me, than a .40. I'm guessing that's because the recoil of those calibers seems to be directed back into the wrist and arm, rather than causing the above muzzle flip.

Talking about the perceived recoil, you should also consider what type of pistol you are shooting when comparing the calibers. A Glock is striker fired and has a lower bore axis than a hammer fired Sig 229. You generally perceive less recoil with a lower bore axis because you have less of the muzzle flip that jdcarpe mentioned.

I had a G19 (sold now) and still have a Sig SP2022 both in 9mm. You definitely can tell there is more muzzle flip to tame with the higher bore axis of the Sig. But since it's a 9mm, the recoil is still very tame. I also shot my father-in-law's SP2022 in 40s&w. It's still very manageable, but I would agree that it is more "snappy". That's a good description of the difference to me.

But generally, your striker fired pistols such as Glocks, S&W M&Ps, etc. will have a lower bore axis and thus less perceived recoil.

Better than I could have explained it hence my term "snappy"... hahaha.

I was shooting mostly a USP 40 and Sig 226 in .40 to see if one was better than the other since the USP has that doube recoil spring system ( i've heard it shoots softer in .40 even though being a polymer pistol) and sig 226 since it was all metal I figured it might shoot softer with more weight.

After testing them both out I figured out quickly that .40 wasnt for me and polymer vs metal didnt matter in .40. I found out what jdcarpe was explaining that muzzle recoil was very much present and was not a fan of it.

I then eventually shot a .45 expecting it be snappy also but found it be more akin to the recoil of 9mm with a little more umpf.. thats what made me finally bite the bullet and go .45

WhiskeyTango... i'd never shot a glock or m&P in .40 and might have to try it to see if the lower bore axis makes a difference...

FWIW, the .40 I owned was a Glock 23. Sold it and bought my Beretta 92FS.

I absolutely LOVE my Beretta. I have owned it since 1998, and I will never get rid of it. Reliability has been 100%. I can't remember ever having a single malfunction with that gun, regardless of the ammo I have used (mostly factory 115gr ball, of various brands, but some hollowpoints as well). The handguns I currently own are the Beretta and a S&W 5906. The only 9mm I am missing is a Sig P226. I hope to pick one of them up next.

I want a 226 bad but boy are they proud of them. I like my polymer sig for half the price but I will get a 226 one day. Can't decide if I want that or the beretta first though. I think cheap magazine availability for the beretta wins. And I second the 9mm or 45 recommendation over the 40. I have heard and interesting argument though: if we find ourselves in zombie land or what have you and you need to find ammo you can always find 40 on a cop since so many departments use it...

I'm pretty happy w/ my CZ P01 - looks good, extremely reliable, awesome ergonomic, and very accurate. I had a Sig 229 40S&W and it was too snappy for me. I tried a friend's Glock .45 and it wasn't as snappy but it rocked me back after each shot.

I've been saying I'm done for over 10 years now. So far that hasn't been true and I already used my New Years resolution on something else. Guess I'll have to keep buying guns   :D

oh
my
god

AND I DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN ONE

so, i tried to go to this gun show today here in richmond, virginia.  i had forgotten about it until i suddenly realized that i was awake and it was opening in half an hour, so i figured i'd drive on by.  this was the first time in years i went to reach for my camera to take a picture of something; i didn't have it with me, sadly.  so basically the entire parking lot was completely packed, and there were lines of cars up and down the road for half  a mile in each direction.  the line of people seemed to reach from the front of the building to the back of the parking lot, and then start wrapping around again.  at this point i was just like "what the f---."  then i went and bought a ribeye steak and a bottle of balvenie doublewood, 'cause f' that.

people-lines and car-lines at the GUNZ SHOW.
