Are they desirable keyboards? I have one that I purchased a while back and I didn't pay this much for it.

I know most will think it's a POS, but with ALPS and at that price I figure somebody must like them.

It most definitely is not a POS.  Desirable?  That's subjective.  Personally, I love the switches on that board.  Feels better than the XMs IMO.  I only wish it were TKL.  Oh well, that's what I have the Zero for :)

I like them pretty well myself. They aren't as smooth as Cherrys, but they're still nice. I think I paid about 60 for mine. Is the price so high because they've been discontinued, or do you think sellers are getting wise about the whole keyboard "scene" (or both?)

No, Microcenter sells it for $60.  It's just the marketplace seller in your link overpricing it.
