Early date and low serial number.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251110365302

I've not seen documentation of any model M earlier.

Close to $200!  I have a NIB 131, a later model, wonder how much it is worth.  I also have an older one that is in excellent shape.

It's probably so expensive because it is one of the first ever made. I happen have one of the first 1391401's.  Mine is made on 12 Mar 1987. So my keyboard was made before they released the IBM personal System 2 on 2, April 1987.If anyone has an earlier 1391401 , I wanna know. Well with this  keyboard on ebay, I can clearly say that from November 1985 onwards , IBM AT's were bundled with the Model M rather than the F AT.

What's the serial/ID number of yours? I notice the ID # of the one in the auction is 900, which is rather low. I have a 6110668 (122-key model F) ID #00363 (31 Jan '84). I only paid $45 shipped for it, and I'm interested if anyone has a lower ID#.

Looks like they started on the 1390131's in November of '85.

Either way, this is a pretty rare find, I'd say. How often do you see SN or ID#'s under 1000?

I have a 1390136 (UK layout), dated 03-10-1986, serial 55-0023619.

What I don't know is what format that date is in, but I'm guessing US format which would make it March '86.

I'm thinking of selling my Model Ms... but not this one :D

You guys are messing with my head.

I have 2 excellent 1986 1390131s which I packaged and boxed very thoroughly and carefully just about a month ago for long-term storage.

One is dated 19SEP86 and I think that the other one is older, but I would have to waste a lot of work to find out.
"Starting in 2011, the deficits again started to shrink. During Obama’s term  the deficit was reduced by $900 Billion  before finally in 2015 the GOP managed to wrangle a “reconciliation” bill out of Obama where he again cut corporate taxes, as well as made permanent some of George W. Bush’s original tax cuts. This is the year everything reversed. Before this, under Clinton, Bush and Obama the deficit in almost every year was gradually decreasing. The balance we had of taxes and the economy was bringing the deficit down, the money coming in was slowly catching up with the money going out until 2015. Trump’s subsequent tax cut has continued the new trend even after the rest of Bush’s cuts have since expired. Obama had an average GDP of 2.3%, with 11.6 million jobs created and unemployment peaking at 10% in 2009, then falling to 4.3% in 2016. If we had continued on that downward deficit track, we would have again reached balance and another surplus in 2017-2018.

And it all went downhill from there

Lol. I spoke too soon. I happen to have a UK '87 Model F AT! Buyers probably had the choice of 101 or 84 key rather than discontinuing the F AT.
BTW, RiffRaff, when was your F AT made?

Here's an actual picture, I never cracked it open to check for dates. I have nothing on the board but the serial number which is pretty common. Mine starts with #262

801-0

I'd say it's somewhere in the 84-85 time range. It definitly isn't my oldest board with capacitive buckling springs.
