My plan is to replace the innards (nappy MY switches) with the guts of a G80-3000 MX. Yummers.

You might need a different spacebar. Caps should work too if you are using a g80.

The case is slightly different and will require some dremeling to get a few support posts out of the way. I've been planning on doing the very same mod for a while now but have just been a bit too busy to get around to it.

Nope, MY 1.25 keys have a stupid off center stem for no reason. Also the stabilzed keys will only work with costar style as they have wire clips as part of the keycap like on shifts, enter, etc and MY and MX controller pcb are generally not interchangeable so that nice 4 port usb hub... so in short it would be a lot more effort that it's worth probably.
Price is not too bad, could make a soft MY board by removing the springs from the switches, it is not great but a big improvement.

Cool, I will update my post to reflect. Are the stabilizer bits actually molded on? I have a 3700 with lasered PBT and the enter and + are normal cherry style. I also have had MY doubleshot boards that have cherry stabilizers that are not built in to the key.

Yes the stab 'clips' are part of the keycap, but only applies to most recent MY PBT, I haven't seen them do it on the pom version yet, and of course they did use the same doubleshots for both back then. No clue why Cherry does some of these things, seems it would be cheaper to only have one keycap mold and use it for everything.
