FS: Help me raise money to buy a new Unicomp! WITH PICS!
« on: Mon, 30 July 2012, 21:27:55 »
Okay guys, so I've made the decision and I want a black-on-black Unicomp Ultra Classic. To at least partially fund this, I'm selling most of my existing keyboards. Nothing too fancy here, but it might get me close to the $100 needed. All keyboards are in fantastic condition, very clean, except when noted. Make me offers! Here's the updated list:

  • Dell AT101W
  • Keytronic LT TBAL PS2-B, black on black, good rubber domes with trackball.
  • Cherry G84-4101SPAUS, industrial-ish medium gray. These keys are sublimated.
  • Cherry G84-4101SPAUS, industrial-ish medium gray. Has missing legs, otherwise perfect.
  • Cherry G84-4101PPAUS, in white. A little gloss in some keys.
  • Dell QuietKey. This one is a little bit thrashy, and has non-original keys, but otherwise works. I know some people like these units. This is the one built in Thailand.
  • Gateway KB-2961, black on black. Pretty decent rubber dome, has a very soft action without being mushy. Fat Enter key.
  • Keytronic 3601, ivory. Very good keyboard, with excellent key action, very responsive. Has the fat Enter key too.
  • Airboard SK-7100 infrared keyboard, dark gray with grey keys and a funky pointing device. Has very nice real scissor keys in a compact design.

I'll post pics later if there's some interest. Just let me know what you want, or you can have them all for $100 plus shipping from TX. Thanks!  ;D

Just curious, why did you settle on that unicomp?

Just curious, why did you settle on that unicomp?

After trying a whole lot of different switches, I've determined that buckling springs are my definite favorites. I already have a Model M that I use at the office, but I'd like something newer, with the Windows keys, and frankly, a device that looks more modern and it's a little bit more compact. The Unicomp Ultra Classic with blank black keys fits the bill perfectly.

Any pictures of the Dell quietkey and how much are you selling it for?

I dunno. The QuietKey is not pretty at all, although 100% functional and works smoothly...I would include it with another keyboard as a bonus. Sounds weird, but I can't figure out selling it by itself.

Oh man, infrared wireless.

I had no idea what you were talking about in the description, and then I saw the picture. Now I remember things that used that...

I know, man. We're getting old. ;-) This keyboard has one of the most crisp, responsive scissor switches I've tried, with a good amount of travel, almost clicky. I had at some point the wild idea of turning it into some sort of custom, wired keyboard.
