« on: Wed, 01 August 2012, 02:55:19 »
need a usb keyboard that doesn't have any issues with multiple key presses. i bought a generic qsenn starcraft keyboard and realized it has to be usb for the lan im likely to end up going to(no idea if the usb version is as good as the ps2 one)

just looking for a standard keyboard, no ultra flatkeys etc. I've used generic dell ones that work fine but I don't recall model numbers.. currently using a keytronics and the a key randomly doesnt work which is IRRITATING AS ****

I don't have any experience with it, but this keyboard claims to have more than 2KRO.

What I'd do is get a used mechanical (like a cherry g80-11900 or some Access-IS) on ebay that has NKRO diodes. I don't know which cherry models have the diodes, but both my access-IS keyboards have them.

Yeah I agree. get yourself a decent mechanical keyboard, and you'll be wondering why you even considered a rubber dome. Even something like this would be much better. and its more than 2KRO I believe.

Interesting, they used to have a rosewill gaming one for about $15 that ripster said was good. Nothing I see currently for sale looks like it.

Have you actually had problems with KRO related issues? That a key might just be broken, or you got "lucky" on the matrix layout.

You could also always just get a ps2 -> usb adapter and use the one you got. You'd just have to make sure to get one that doesn't suck.

That won't help rollover issues.

i have a das keyboard, one of the keys went out long ago. trust me when I say that I experienced the mechanical keyboard feeling long before it became popular(~2008) and sincerely don't think it's worth the money. I've CONSIDERED a usb unicomp customizer at times but I think the price got hiked due to all the mechanical keyboard hype as of late.. on top of not knowing if its going to have **** input like the one im using now

Well he said he got a different one, but is assuming he can't use it because it is PS2. Ergo, adapter.

I'll add that mechanical keyboards aren't all that much if you stick with vintage stuff. If you haven't used buckling springs before though, I'd get at least a model m on ebay and an adapter.

I'm not sure I'd call it popular quite yet.

is there any evidence of whether or not theres disadvantages via input lag added, etc using a ps2 -> usb adapter?

sidewinder is pretty expensive considering I won't use any of its features really. I did look into their antighost tech, which is cool though.

Aren't those all 2KRO?

It will if you get/make a soarer ps2 to USB.

My cherry G84-4101 is 2KRO, and it has more rollover issues than any keyboard I've ever seen, unfortunately.

I ended up getting a MS Sidewinder X4 for my full keyboard, backlit gaming needs.  My Filco tenkeyless is what I normally use.  There are some sims that need keypad keys that registers the presses as num pad keys, not just the same codes is the normal location keys.  I got it NIB for $30.  You just have to watch ebay and kijiji in your area.
