I like the look of the Filco, but I will not get one because I already have two keyboards with blue Cherries.

Although completely different from the blue Cherries, the brown Cherries are nice to type on as well, aren't they?

So tempting, but I can't afford it.

What's the cheapest Blue cherry option? Is it still the ione scorpius m10?

I just got mine this morning and am typing on it now.  It's louder than I expected, but I really like it.  The build quality is very good, the board is very heavy and solid.  I'm very impressed.  Will see if it's quiet enough to use when kids are sleeping.

I also ordered a Cherry Brown Otaku and really like that board as well.

I've been typing on a Compaq Brown Cherry board for a couple of weeks and though it does give you some idea of what the Filco will be like, the Fillco is a much better typing experience.  The base/board/case feels very solid and substantial where the Compaq is much more lightweight.  I think you could pound away on the Filco all day long and it wouldn't budge with it's heavy innards and rubber feet.

In other words, if I were you I'd start worrying about the letters rubbing off your M13.

And is your Topre spacebar shiny yet?

This part I dont get. For a while now (ever since the topic of filco key wear came up, actually) ripster has been pretending that all printed keys are the same.   When of course he was the one who first pointed out to us that in fact, keys and key printing and key construction are very different based on manufacturing method used.

So for instance, above, where he equates Filco keys to M13 keys. I dont get it. Let me be clear:

Ripster, are you stating here that M13 keys get shiny within 2 weeks like Filco keys? That they have a clearcoat which comes off in a month or two like Filco keys? Or that the actual printing has the same durability as m13 keys?

Heck, even Webwit (your BFF) said that he'd "never" seen an M13 with worn keys -- and keep in mind, these are boards that are 15 years old now. Yea, he said "never" - so if you want to quibble, dont quote me, quote him. Its one of my great disappointments that you two, at that point, didnt "go at it". I would have liked to have seen that, instead, the BFF's politely moved on to other topics ;-D )

So just wondering if you could clarify. Because the way you "equate" other keys to filco keys, one gets the impression that you think the key experience with all of them is the same.  Its not the same, of course. And I dont know why you would want to repeatedly imply that they're the same. Except to try to "exonerate" Filco keys at any expense. Which means fanboyism if you ask me.

Rippy, I have nothing against you personally, please understand that. I've always said your contributions here are top notch (and unlike your BFF Webwit, you dont descend into vulgarity at the first opportunity).  But I have to protest when you "spin" your Filco advocacy a bit too much.  Thats all.

Nor do I have anything against Filco boards -- I merely want people to be able to speak candidly about them, not feel like we have to immediately start making excuses when we find something we dont like. I mean, thats like something you'd see from, say, apple fanboys or windows fanboys or fanboys in general. Thats the issue I have here.

[Oh yea, Ripster also used to praise laser etched keys -- until he found out the inexpensive scorpius M10 had them and the expensive Filcos did not have them - and then "suddenly" he started poo-pooing laser etched keys.  Is it any wonder I accuse him of Filco fanboyism?]

I dont mean to start anything up here again, I'll just point out these discrepencies from time to time if they add up over time.  I mean if you get to freely spin the advocacy, you have to expect pushback from time to time, am I right?

You know BFF can stand for Best Friend Forever, but it can also easily respresent a vulgar term that would actually be more appropriate in the context in which it's geing used  :)

Here, I'll raise Welly's BP for you:
Go Majestouch! Go Filco!
Two months and no wear issues on the FKBN104MC/EBs
No trasposition problems with the Zero (haven't done CC test)
And of course, not a single issue with the HHKB Pro 2 or Realforce 87U
Love the 23UBs, red HH Esc keys and multiple keyboard roofs, (even though they are open at the sides) and leather wrist rests
The only item I'm not enamored with is the Filco touchpad, but that was a stretch anyway.

Maybe Majestouch should consider distributing the TVS Gold to the US market.  Then he could cater to both the high and low end.  On the other hand, the TVS Gold might cannabilize a portion of the Filco sales.

OK, at least you got something of (questionable) value for performing this civil service.

Actually the price went up by 5 or 6 bucks so you got a smokin' deal.

If Welly used it, please make sure you sanitize the keys with industrial grade Lysol cleaner.  He is known to have unnatural relationships with his keyboards.  (i.e. his former Topre)  Lysol has the added advantage of removing that annoying matte finish that is going to wear of anyway  :)
