Very tempting but I'll pass. I like that it is Feb. 15 1991 since that is 6 weeks before Lexmark took over. However, only M's issued in 1988 or earlier are guaranteed to have support wires in the numeric pad.

Yep, and you get to miss out on drainage channels, and additional supports for the keyboard assembly.

Whatever.  I'd rather have NIB without support wires than Used with support wires  in a numpad.

And my working assumption is that Lexmark took over but didn't drastically change anything for a while.  I have a NIB Mini where the Lexmark label was slapped over the IBM label.

O, just to be clear, I consider only NIB keyboards. I agree that I'm being awfully picky but if I wasn't then I would have no reason to get another M. I already have 3 NIBs. I'm still waiting on a 1988 NIB 1391401. Ebay automatically e-mails me any listings that can be found with the terms: "New Model M" or "New 1391401". Every week I get a notification for Minis that I don't care for. It's annoying. Finally when New M shows up, it is those Lexmarks. The few rare times we see a 1391401, it's from the 90s.

Both keyboards sold.  Looks like NIB Model Ms are now moving to the above $100 range.

My 6 NIB Model Ms are now officially 100% better investments than Microsoft or Intel.  Maybe I shouldn't have dropped that Boscom 12 feet?!?!!

That's what crappy Dell keyboards are for.
