What's very possible is that EliteKeyboards got so many backorders that they used up all the stock they were expecting on the 31st and are getting more around the 10th.

So many who backordered when the ETA was 10/31 may be getting them shipped now (if they haven't already).

Makes sense although I'm surprised that we seem to be going through the same drill as last Christmas 2009.

Majestouch must think we are in a recession or something.  All that Schwarzenegger pessimism.

You have to hedge your risk. I don't think Brian has a Newegg sized warehouse to store all his keyboards. The longer keyboards sit, the longer he has to worry about keeping them safe, the possibility that Diatec introduces a new model exists, etc...

its funny cuz its true :P

seriously, a thousands of people now know what mechanical keyboards are because of several big names that showed up at gsl (the best korean tournament) were playing on filcos.  alot of kids used the qsenn dt35 just because almost all the original brood war progamers use it, its kind of silly.

i honestly do think elitekeyboards ran through their stock because of all the sc nerds...

Price increase anyone?

The YTD change isn't THAT huge, it's around 10%. Pricing is usually not modified heavily by suppliers or sellers with minor changes in currency valuation because most people get pissed when the price of something fluctuates.

Who knows what deal Brian has with Diatec anyways regarding pricing.

I was going to wait until I got my Filco tenkeyless brown before I popped in officially--I'm on pre-order--but maybe this is the right time and place to say hello as well as note that there are now some healthy price-rises on EKB for all the Filcos and the HHKs.

Though not a serious SC player, I found you all via their talk about mechanical boards. I certainly went from zero to sixty quickly as I read just about everything here. Thanks for being such a great source of info!

I'll try not to make this an expensive hobby. I confess that I find the thock-thock of the Topres very soothing. By the time I might go for such a board it'd be more than $300. Small sigh.

I was watching for a hike after I saw your post, you were bang on.  Sure it's "only" $9usd, but that's 10% of a Rosewill.  Now it'll cost $165-170cdn to get a Filco, versus $112cdn for a Rosewill.

I seem to remember you joking that Brian has his kids testing blue switch boards, is there actually any more QC going on than buying from Newegg?

Or in my case, not so extreme a gamer and not always busy typing, but if I would have bought such a nice keyboard back when I got my first PC (1989) I might even conceivably have been enjoying it for a couple decades. Looking at it that way, it's a reasonable expenditure even if it's not cheap. Reasonable for anyone, not just a keyboard fanatic.

Instead it's been crappy boards all that time and I never felt that I was typing well on them ever to be honest.

Supply/demand doesn't evaluate the relative value/sanity of a purchase since these are relative based on the individual. Merely how much people want a product and what the supply of that product is.

Product in relatively high demand as of late (I'm sure Teamliquid, OCN, a few other forums have been helping with that) to the point where Brian's having trouble staying in stock.

Exclusive supplier who has more demand than supply.

Raise prices a few bucks and you'll probably get the demand a bit lower, closer to the supply.

Still waiting on getting mine that I ordered on 10/12.  I apparently didn't get one from the 10/30 stock, so I'm hoping I get one from the 11/10 stock.  If not, I'll have to consider getting a Das.  At least I got the older price.

Only issue is they charged my credit card already (which the order email said would not happen, said it would be charged when shipped), so I'd need to go through getting a refund if I decide to cancel.

Hm, I did the exact same thing.  When my Filco Tenkeyless Brown was pushed back I picked up the discounted Rosewill.

The Rosewill is really nice, considering I'm moving from the laptop keyed Apple boards, and an HHKB Lite2.

I am bummed out that the prices for the HHKB Pro 2 went up about $10. It did push that out of my impulse buying range as well. I mean, I know the price is sky high for the HHKB anyway, but since I already have a Topre board, I was wanting to try the new layout. I guess I won't be getting one too soon now. Not that it has anything to do with the people at Elitekeyboards.com....I understand why they did it. They are almost never in supply of those things anymore. But still, I'll be waiting for a little bit to jump in to the HHKB myself.
Keyboards currently in my possession:
Filco Majestouch Cherry MX Brown 104 key, Unicomp Spacesaver 104, Rosewill RK-9000RE (Cherry MX Red), Leopold 660C Mini Capacitive keyboard, HHKB Type S, Logitech Illuminated Keyboard

Keypads:

Yeah, that's quite a price on HHKB's now!  They sell out instantly, so it doesn't hurt to up the price a tad.  I'm sure they'll still get all of them sold, but I have to say I'm glad I got mine before the price went up.  i doubt I would have gotten it if it was $275.00

For a US distributor, yes. If you're willing to look around a bit check out the geekhack market place.

If you have money to burn you could always order from www.geekstuff4u.com.

There is also going through Asian buying agents to shop internationally.

For a US distributor, yes. If you're willing to look around a bit check out the geekhack market place.

If you have money to burn you could always order from www.geekstuff4u.com.

There is also going through Asian buying agents to shop internationally.

thanks

Guess I will just find somebody to buy one for me in China and ship it...
bit worry about the shipping cost though
